About the role
As a Senior Data Scientist at Mable, you'll leverage your expertise in data science to help us continue to improve the services we provide to our customers. You'll be responsible for researching, improving, and developing machine learning models and utilising generative AI solutions to optimise external and internal customer-facing tools and processes.
This role requires a blend of technical prowess, strategic thinking, and collaboration across cross-functional teams. You will be at the heart of a fast-paced, high growth environment where you will help drive real-world impact.
What will I be doing?
- Lead the research and development of state-of-the-art data science solutions to address emerging business needs and market expansion opportunities.
- Developing cutting-edge AI technologies, with the intent to scale and ‘productise’ across the organisation
- Conduct exploratory analysis to identify trends, insights, and verify hypotheses to identify not only what is happening, but why it is happening and what it means
- Analyse A/B tests to evaluate the effectiveness of new features and processes
- Communicate complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders effectively
- Partner with product managers, software engineers, data/ML engineers and UX designers to to operationalize and enhance production-grade data science services
- Create and maintain dashboards to present insights and performance metrics
- Ensure all data analysis adheres to privacy and security policies
What are we looking for?
- 4+ years of industry experience in providing data science solutions
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
- Worked on projects leveraging traditional AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI
- Familiarity with various aspects of Generative AI, including context engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration and evaluation
- Experience with modern Agentic AI Frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph
- Design and implement AI safety guardrails to ensure trustworthy, compliant model behaviour in production
- Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub.
- Proficiency in ML model development and analytics tools such as Python
- Familiarity with data visualisation and data storytelling
- Initiative and ownership to deliver work with autonomy
- Collaboration skills to partner effectively with multiple stakeholders
- A "solutions mindset" of natural curiosity and a strong motivation to solve problems, no matter how complicated or ambiguous they might be
- Comfort with ambiguity, a fast-paced environment, and rapid business growth
- Above all else, a "can-do" attitude is the most important qualification!
What else would make a difference?
- Knowledge and experience in two-sided marketplaces
- Knowledge and experience of the care industry including both aged care and disability care
- Experience and/or knowledge in probabilistic machine learning models, enhancing prediction accuracy and uncertainty estimation.
- Experience and/or knowledge in deep learning models, leveraging neural networks to conquer complex prediction tasks and high-dimensional data.
- Proficiency in working with unstructured data, particularly text.
- Proficiency with data/analytics platforms such as Databricks and AWS.
- Previous experience in A/B test design and feature effectiveness analysis.
