What will you do? 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer, Renewables who has had experience across either Solar, Wind & BESS to join our Energy and Power Generation team in Sydney.

In this role, you will support the design and delivery of utility-scale solar, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, including major developments in the tens to thousands of megawatts. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle; concept, feasibility, design and construction support. bringing strong technical capability and a practical delivery mindset. 

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the business (civil, structural, HV/substations, transmission, protection and control, grid connection, advisory and PM) and coordinate with distributed delivery teams as required to achieve high-quality outcomes for our clients. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to projects in the Defence sector, where security requirements apply. Critically, you will also get access to a network of engineers that have worked on many of Australia’s flagship renewable energy and storage projects. 

Here are the key things you will need to ‘bring ideas to life’: 

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design for utility-scale solar, wind and/or BESS, with proven delivery on utility-scale projects. 
  • Strong understanding of solar, wind, BESS electrical systems and interfaces, such as (as relevant to your experience): 
  • inverter-based generation and grid-forming / grid-following considerations 
  • DC collection systems, string/central inverter configurations and inverter stations 
  • MV reticulation, switchgear, transformers, earthing and lightning protection 
  • BESS architecture (PCS, battery racks/containers, HV/MV integration, auxiliaries) 
  • protection, control and metering interfaces, including integration with substations and grid connection requirements 
  • Experience producing high-quality deliverables: single line diagrams, equipment specifications, calculations, technical reports, design packages and review documentation. 
  • Ability to work effectively in integrated teams across the business and coordinate with offshore/distributed delivery teams while maintaining quality and programme alignment. 
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with clients, OEMs, contractors, NSPs and internal stakeholders. 
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on safety, constructability, and delivering to scope, budget and schedule. 
  • Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering (working toward Chartered status will be highly regarded).
