Job Title:  Senior Enterprise SCADA Technical Support Engineer

Location: Sydney Australia

The job  

We are seeking an experienced Senior Enterprise SCADA Technical Support Engineer to join our global support organisation, helping customers operate, maintain, and expand mission-critical SCADA environments across the energy, utilities, pipeline, water, and industrial infrastructure sectors. This role provides advanced technical support for AVEVA Enterprise SCADA (OASyS) deployments and works directly with customers, engineering, product development, and project teams to resolve complex operational challenges.

You'll work with a highly specialised global team supporting some of the world's most critical operational systems. This is an opportunity to develop deep expertise in enterprise SCADA technology, influence product improvements, collaborate with industry-leading customers, and solve technically challenging problems that have real-world impact.

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Resolve complex software, system, integration, communications, and performance issues in enterprise SCADA environments.

  • Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis, replication, escalation, and resolution of critical customer incidents.

  • Support installations, upgrades, migrations, commissioning activities, and system expansions.

  • Troubleshoot enterprise SCADA applications, HMI displays, alarm systems, real-time databases, historian integrations, and communications infrastructure.

  • Partner with Product Development and R&D teams to validate defects, test fixes, and improve product quality.

  • Create knowledge base content, technical notes, troubleshooting guides, and best-practice documentation.

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers operating critical infrastructure systems.

  • Occasionally travel to client sites.

 

Essential requirements 

  • Strong experience supporting enterprise-scale SCADA, industrial automation, or operational technology (OT) environments.

  • Deep understanding of SCADA/HMI architectures, high availability, redundancy, failover, and mission-critical operations.

  • Experience troubleshooting Windows Server environments, networking, and distributed systems.

  • Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V administration and backup tasks.

  • Strong SQL Server knowledge, including querying, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.

  • Experience with software diagnostics, scripting, or development using technologies such as C#, VB.NET, C++, or similar.

  • Excellent customer-facing communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across global teams.

 

Desired skills 

  • Direct experience with AVEVA Enterprise SCADA, OASyS DNA, Telvent OASyS, or related platforms.

  • Knowledge of industrial protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC, IEC, and field devices including RTUs and PLCs.

  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Pipelines, Utilities, Water, Power, or other critical infrastructure industries.

  • Experience supporting geographically distributed, highly available SCADA systems.

  • Understanding of OT cybersecurity and industrial networking concepts.

  • Strong administration experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, including virtualisation, clustering, storage, networking, performance optimisation, and disaster recovery.
