About the role:

As the Senior Finance Manager at Tyro, you will be responsible for overseeing stat reporting, tax, ensuring compliance, managing risk, coordinating audits, and driving continuous improvements within Tyro.

What you'll do:
  • Support the group accounting team in month end processes, reviewing journals, profit and loss analysis and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Prepare Statutory accounts including notes disclosures in accordance with accounting standards.  

  • Prepare board and committee accounting papers.  

  • Prepare payroll tax across all states and other employment tax obligations.  

  • Manage and submit. Other reporting obligations to the ATO e.g. AIIR, CRS, ABN/TFN.  

  • Review Payment Times Reporting.  

  • Liaise with the external tax advisor in preparing Income Tax Returns, FBT and other tax compliance with reporting requirements.  

  • Manage the half yearly and annual external reviews/audits as well as ensure compliance with reporting requirements 

  • Identify, implement, and document relevant accounting standards.  

  • Manage project work to ensure they are aligned with Tyro’s policies and the accounting standards (including M&A activities, if any). 

  • Assist in leading the Financial Control team by balancing the delegation of work (quality, accuracy, deadlines), resolving escalated technical matters, and coaching the team for high performance and accountability.  

  • Identify and drive process improvement and streamlining of manual processes to improve control and reporting efficiency.  

  • Process and procedure improvement in key financial accounting and reporting processes.  

  • Other ad-hoc analysis as required 

What you'll bring:
  • Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (CA, CPA or equivalent). 

  • Strong technical accounting skills, including a solid understanding and working knowledge of accounting processes, principles and standards (Australian Accounting Standards/IFRS). 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate accounting and reporting requirements.  

  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to solve problems with consideration to business impact.  

  • Excellent time management/planning skills and demonstrated analytical skills.  

  • Experience in ERP accounting systems and strong Excel skills.  

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries (desirable).
