The Role

We are seeking to engage a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Melbourne team. This is a fixed term opportunity for 9 months with the possibility to extend to a permanent role.

As a critical member of the Group Finance team specialising in statutory and external reporting, this role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information, adherence to all accounting policies and standards, establishes control over financial reports including the planning, co-ordination and review of statutory and specified legal entity external reporting requirements for the SMEC.

The Senior Financial Accountant also undertakes financial accounting responsibilities for ensuring that key salary and employee-related accounts are properly accounted for in our financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and managing the Audit plans and timetables;
• Preparing the annual Directors’ Remuneration Schedule;
• Undertaking a Group Finance level financial statement reviews for subsidiaries;
• Reviewing and coordinating the SI Branches Finance team with their branch accounts obligations, including the preparation and audit of Malaysian Branch accounts;
• Preparation of statutory accounts
• Preparing other external reports such as bank covenant, salary multipliers and business surveys;
• Providing support to external auditors.
• Reviewing and analysis of key salary and employee-related account movements including the preparation of rolling forecasts of balances;
• Reviewing and analysis of Direct Labour Cost (DLC);
• Undertaking the annual DLC update into Epicor following the Group’s salary review process;
• Responding to ad-hoc queries during tax and financial audits.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Finance
• 7+ years relevant experience in the full range of either financial and/or management accounting activities, including general accounting; financial analysis; budgeting/ forecasting
• CPA/CA certified
• Computer literacy - with intermediate knowledge of accounting software and spreadsheet program
• Ability to work under pressure
