Job Description:

We are looking for a commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in our Sydney CBD head office.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will step into a broad remit within a well-established team, playing a critical role in partnering with stakeholders to drive actionable insights. You are right for this role if you have a keen eye for detail, a sound background in financial reporting, and a passion for streamlining workflows and enhancing accounting processes. 

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Support month-end close procedures, intercompany recharges, and reporting of Cotality's Australian and New Zealand results to our US parent

  • Maintain the trial balance and ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.

  • Analyse financial data to convey insights regarding cost and revenue variances to key stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors for tax compliance, including Income Tax, BAS, FBT, and Transfer Pricing.

  • Manage the preparation of year-end statutory reports and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.

  • Partner with the business to drive process efficiencies and facilitate informed financial decision-making.

  • Monitor revenue performance against targets and contribute to annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting.

  • Mentor junior finance team members and support senior leadership with ad hoc reporting and analysis.

  • Actively cooperate with the WHS Framework to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.

    Job Qualifications:

    What You Will Bring:

    Essential:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

    • CA / CPA qualification.

    • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting or external audit.

    • Proven experience in preparing / reviewing financial statements and tax lodgements.

    • Sound understanding of accounting standards, including IFRS 15, ASC 606, IAS 1, IFRS 3, IFRS 9, IAS 36, IAS 37 and IFRS S1 & S2.

    • Intermediate Excel skills (If formulas, lookups, and pivot tables).

    • Strong technical analysis skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-technical stakeholders.

    • A proactive, organised mindset with a focus on continuous process improvement.

    Preferred:

    • Prior experience in "Big 4" or "mid-tier" Chartered Accounting environment.
    • Prior experience in SaaS or technology industries.

    • Familiarity with Oracle and TM1 systems.

    • Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors.
