WHO WE ARE:

Optiver is a global market maker founded in Amsterdam, with offices in London, Chicago, Austin, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Mumbai. Established in 1986, today we are a leading liquidity provider, with close to 2,000 employees in offices around the world, united in our commitment to improve the market through competitive pricing, execution and risk management. By providing liquidity on multiple exchanges across the world in various financial instruments we participate in the safeguarding of healthy and efficient markets. We provide liquidity to financial markets using our own capital, at our own risk, trading a wide range of products: listed derivatives, cash equities, ETFs, bonds and foreign currencies.
Optiver’s Sydney office is one of the primary players within Asian markets, trading a range of products. Established in 1996, we're an active participant on the Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan exchanges, and act as Optiver’s APAC head office.
WHO YOU ARE:

We are looking for a Senior End User Computing - Virtual Desktop Engineer (EUC - VDI) to operate, improve, and evolve a large-scale enterprise Omnissa Horizon (VMware) environment. This is a project-heavy role: the majority of your time will be spent leading and delivering infrastructure projects and platform improvements at global scale, with the remainder focused on operational responsibilities including support, incident response, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with strong emphasis on platform automation, repeatability, and data-driven decision making. You will be responsible not only for keeping the platform stable, but for improving how it is operated over time through automation, standardisation, and evidence-based optimisation. This is a specialist Horizon engineering role, not a generic Modern Workplace position.
WHAT YOU'LL DO?

We're looking for a senior, hands-on Horizon engineer who's comfortable taking ownership of both technical outcomes and operational quality. You'll bring automation and infrastructure-as-code thinking to improve reliability and consistency, and you'll troubleshoot, optimise, and justify changes with data rather than guesswork. We are looking for someone execution-focused, with a strong bias toward fixing root causes instead of symptoms, who stays calm and methodical under pressure, especially during incidents, and who can communicate clearly, explaining technical decisions with evidence and impact.

  • Lead and deliver global-scale VDI infrastructure projects end to end, from scoping and planning through to production rollout and handover
  • Balance project execution with operational responsibilities including incident response, platform support, change management, and ongoing platform improvement
  • Operate and support production Omnissa Horizon (VMware) environments across a global, multi-site infrastructure
  • Own and execute Horizon platform upgrades (agents, pods, components) with minimal user impact
  • Troubleshoot and remediate performance, stability, and user-experience issues using metrics and evidence, not guesswork
  • Diagnose and resolve authentication and login-related issues (AD, GPOs, certificates, SSO, MFA integrations)
  • Design and implement automation and repeatable processes using PowerShell, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Use monitoring and operational data to drive capacity planning, tuning, and remediation decisions
  • Work closely with infrastructure, networking, and security teams on cross-domain issues and improvements
  • Analyse and address resource contention across compute, memory, storage, network, and NVIDIA vGPU
  • Participate in remediation initiatives related to performance degradation, login latency, session instability, and user-impacting incidents
  • Continuously reduce manual operational effort through scripting, standardisation, and platform improvements.

YOU'LL HAVE:

  • 7+ years of hands-on production experience with Omnissa Horizon (VMware) in an enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering infrastructure projects at global scale, including coordinating across regions, teams, and stakeholders
  • Deep expertise in vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter cluster management
  • Experience with SAN storage in a virtualised environment
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
  • Experience with NVIDIA vGPU or GPU-accelerated virtual desktop environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking fundamentals relevant to VDI (load balancing, DNS, firewall rules)
  • Experience with monitoring and telemetry tooling (Grafana, InfluxDB, or equivalent)
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology — metrics-driven, root-cause focused
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly, with evidence and impact, to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders

WHAT YOU'LL GET:
You’ll join a culture of collaboration and excellence, where you’ll be surrounded by curious thinkers and creative problem solvers. Driven by a passion for continuous improvement, you’ll thrive in a supportive, high-performing environment alongside talented colleagues, working collectively to tackle some of the most complex problems in the financial markets.

In return for your expertise, you will have access to a range of Optiver perks, including:

  • A performance-based bonus structure unmatched anywhere in the industry. We combine our profits across desks, teams and offices into a global profit pool, fostering a truly collaborative environment.

  • The chance to work alongside diverse and intelligent peers in a rewarding environment.

  • Training, mentorship and personal development opportunities.

  • Daily breakfast, lunch and an in-house barista.

  • Gym membership plus weekly in-house chair massages.

  • Regular social events, including a company trip every two years.

  • Guided relocation, a competitive relocation package and visa sponsorship where necessary.

Optiver is committed to diversity and inclusion. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, and welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during the process.
