The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Energy & Utilities team based in Chatswood, NSW.
Working within a Business Partner model, you will provide expert advice, coaching and mentoring across all aspects of health, safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability. You will support the implementation of The Downer Standard, drive continuous improvement initiatives and assist operational teams in strengthening safety ownership and capability.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting and mentoring operational teams to strengthen Zero Harm culture and performance
• Leading and supporting incident investigations and injury management activities
• Providing technical risk management guidance and supporting the development of risk controls
• Supporting compliance, reporting and governance activities within Zero Harm systems
• Building strong stakeholder relationships and influencing positive safety outcomes across the business
• Participating in critical risk programs and continuous improvement initiatives
What we're looking forTo be successful in this role, you will bring:
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Health and Safety
• Minimum five years experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role within a high risk industry
• Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements
• Experience conducting audits, investigations and corrective action management
• Demonstrated capability in risk management, injury management and workers compensation processes
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills
• ICAM investigation training, internal auditing qualifications and training delivery experience will be highly regarded
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel as required
