About the Role

As an Insurance Product Manager on our Insurance Team, you will own the development, governance, and continuous improvement of Cover Genius's embedded insurance product portfolio across the ANZ market.

To drive success in this role, you will have deep expertise in Australian insurance product governance frameworks, including ASIC's Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO) and RG 146, with proven experience across general insurance (preferably travel) and life insurance verticals.

You will lead end-to-end product design, underwriter sourcing, and compliance management, from policy wording reviews through to performance reporting and regulatory monitoring. Regular collaboration with the ANZ partnerships team, underwriters, legal, compliance, and global product teams will be key in ensuring our product suite remains competitive, compliant, and commercially sound.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the development of new embedded insurance products across ANZ verticals, translating partner opportunities and market gaps into compliant, customer-centric product solutions across travel, life, and discretionary risk lines.

  • Manage the day-to-day product portfolio, including ongoing underwriter relationships, policy wording and coverage reviews, pricing submissions, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Lead end-to-end compliance with design and distribution obligations (DDO), including regular TMD and PDS reviews, ensuring zero material regulatory breaches across managed product lines.

  • Produce weekly and monthly portfolio performance reports with clear insights and commentary, identifying levers to improve GWP growth and net margin across assigned product lines.

  • Partner closely with the ANZ partnerships team to develop product proposals and financial models for new partner pitches, delivering accurate, well-reasoned outputs within agreed turnaround windows.

  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments across relevant insurance product lines, proactively adapting product positioning to maintain compliance and competitive advantage.

Skills & Experience

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in the Australian insurance industry, with deep expertise in discretionary risk products, travel insurance (global experience ideal) and/or life Insurance.

  • Deep working knowledge of product governance frameworks, including ASIC's Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO), RG 146, and Responsible Manager obligations.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and writing policy wordings, Target Market Determinations (TMDs), and Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs) to regulatory and commercial standards.

  • Proven ability to manage underwriter relationships, including pricing negotiations, coverage submissions, and policy requirement discussions at a senior level.

  • Experience in discretionary risk products and/or embedded insurance distribution models highly valued.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, A postgraduate degree and/or record of academic achievement is also desirable

  • Ability to communicate complex insurance product and regulatory concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including partners, underwriters, and senior internal stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interrogate portfolio performance data, surface meaningful trends, and translate insights into actionable improvements.

  • Proven stakeholder management skills, able to build and maintain productive relationships with underwriters, partners, legal and compliance teams, and regulators simultaneously.

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes initiative managing competing priorities, ambiguous situations, and tight deadlines with confidence and composure.

  • Collaborative team player who actively supports the partnerships team's commercial objectives and contributes to a high-performance, cross-functional product culture aligned with Cover Genius values.
