About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel – Real Estate is a key legal adviser supporting Lendi Group’s real estate, buyer’s agent and agent-services businesses. This role provides expert, commercially focused guidance on regulatory, licensing and operational matters that underpin our growing real estate ecosystem. With deep experience in national real estate and agent licensing laws, you will shape compliant growth, enable new initiatives and embed regulatory obligations into day-to-day operations across the Group.

Job Description

  • Provide high-quality, pragmatic legal advice to the real estate, buyer’s agent and agent-services businesses, ensuring commercial outcomes while managing legal and regulatory risk.
  • Lead legal support for real estate initiatives including Buyer’s Agents, Aussie for Agents and broader agent-services programs, ensuring these offerings are compliant, scalable and effectively integrated into the wider business.
  • Apply expert knowledge of real estate legislation, national and state-based agent-licensing requirements and related regulatory frameworks, translating complex obligations into practical, operational guidance.
  • Develop, refine and implement real estate compliance frameworks, policies and processes—embedding “compliant-by-design” principles in new products, business models and service lines.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements relevant to real estate service delivery, partnership arrangements, supplier relationships and technology enablement.
  • Advise on regulatory matters spanning real estate licensing, consumer law, franchising, privacy, data protection and broader corporate and commercial issues impacting agent-led services.
  • Support business units as they design and implement new real estate initiatives, system changes, AI-enabled tools, growth strategies and operational enhancements.
  • Work closely with investigations, compliance and risk teams on matters involving procedural fairness, agent conduct, governance and regulatory inquiries.
  • Stay ahead of legal and regulatory developments affecting real estate, agent services, franchising and financial services, providing clear guidance on impacts and required action.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, leaders and stakeholders, acting as a trusted adviser who influences decisions and balances commercial and legal considerations.
  • Manage interactions with external legal advisers on real estate-related matters, aiming to maximise in-house capability and minimise external spend.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes, templates and playbooks, with an emphasis on real estate compliance, agent operations and scalable service design.
  • Support broader Group-wide legal needs as required, including corporate, commercial, regulatory and incident-related work.

Qualifications

  • 6 plus years of legal experience
  • Law degree and current practicing certificate
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply real estate and agent services licensing regimes and related legislation, with demonstrated experience in real estate, franchising, or similar regulatory licensing environments.
  • Ability to proactively identify, understand, communicate and act on current and future risks
  • Proven attention to detail, confidentiality, and organisational discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain strong relationships and influence others
