The Legal team is responsible for advising on all activities related to the organization’s legal affairs within the ANZ region. Key areas include providing legal support on commercial and non-commercial matters, addressing consumer and competition law issues, and advising on global privacy laws and advertising regulations.

The role involves supporting one of the highest-revenue markets in APAC and emerging markets, with significant involvement in global product initiatives as well as leading marketing reviews for the region

  • Provide timely, creative, and commercially astute legal advice that aligns with ResMed’s strategic objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, anticipating legal and regulatory issues, and delivering practical, customer-focused solutions.
  • Lead, advise on, and drive strategic initiatives and projects with the leadership team.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a range of contracts, particularly those involving health procurement and technology.
  • Review marketing collateral, educational, and promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory matters across Australia and New Zealand, staying informed about relevant changes in laws.
  • Offer guidance on compliance and privacy-related matters.
  • Continuously improve legal operations by creating playbooks, conducting training, and mentoring other lawyers.
  • Support the Direct-to-Consumer business, including handling consumer complaints, warranty issues, and managing a retail lease portfolio
  • Provide strategic legal input on DTC models, including subscription models, and participate in the DTC leadership team.
  • Manage competition law issues related to a dual distribution model markets, handle distribution agreements, and assist with resolving disputes and complaints.
  • Oversee hospital contracts and government tenders, providing strategic support to the wholesale business and participating in wholesale leadership discussions.
  • Support the development of new distribution channels, such as establishing local pharmacy pathways.
  • Collaborate with local provider and consumer solutions teams, reviewing trade promotions and marketing labels.
  • Provide legal support for product pilots and new releases in the ANZ market, and assist the sales operations team.
  • Manage agreements and interactions with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
  • Provide legal support for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Deliver regular training to internal clients.
  • Develop legal playbooks and other tools to optimize legal services.

Let’s talk about you:

  • 6-8 years PQE, gained in-house or in a commercial law firm.
  • Admitted to practice law in Australia.
  • In-house experience in the med-tech or other regulated industries is preferred.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions, as well as litigation, is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and serve as a legal business partner for the ANZ commercial team and APAC leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify legal risks and create effective strategies to mitigate them.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal matters for different audiences.
  • A team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling complex, high-risk issues with practical solutions.
  • Well-organized, with excellent planning skills and the ability to prioritize and achieve defined outcomes.
  • Experience with privacy compliance and technology-related legal issues is an advantage.
