GenesisCare now has an opportunity for a highly experienced legal professional to join our team in the role of Senior Legal Counsel. This role provides strategic and commercially focussed legal advice and support to our business and strategic initiatives.
The Senior Legal Counsel will be part of a dynamic legal team responsible for overseeing all legal matters across GenesisCare’s Australian business, providing strategic legal advice across the broad range of legal issues applicable to a large private healthcare provider of radiation oncology, medical oncology, theranostics, clinical trials and other cancer care services to patients.
On offer is a 12month maximum term contract working 0.9 to 1.0 FTE, reporting directly to the acting General Counsel & Company Secretary.
More specifically, you will:

• Provide legal support on corporate and capital management matters, including corporate governance matters, administration of equity plans, M&A, assistance on ASIC regulatory filings, tax, treasury and finance matters
• Provide legal support on business development priorities, including agreements for lease, leases, construction contracts, equipment supply contracts, FIRB approvals and ACCC approvals in connection with new site development projects
• Provide legal support on commercial contractual matters, including hospital operator service level agreements, medical equipment and services contracts, IT contracts and other BAU contracts
• Ensure that relevant issues are elevated and escalated to the General Counsel & Company Secretary in a timely manner.
• Work with the functional heads, general managers and the Executive Leadership Team to drive improvement and growth and ensure a best-in-class legal and compliance function.
• Deliver high quality legal services in a timely manner as part of a collaborative team.
• Provide regulatory advice and support in implementing compliance initiatives.
• Engage and supervise external legal services providers.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Legal practice experience 6+ years.
• Top-tier firm or blue chip corporate legal practice experience, including in corporate law, corporate governance, equity plans, M&A, joint ventures, commercial contracts, property and finance.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
• Qualified to practice as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
• Experience working in healthcare, patient and purpose focused.
• Excellent technical legal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver commercial and fit-for-purpose legal advice on a wide range of issues.
• Demonstrated ability in both internal and external stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise matters in line with strategic priorities of the business.
• High degree of professional ethics, integrity and strength to express their views.
