Working within our ANZ Legal team this role reports to our Head of Legal ANZ, acting as a trusted adviser and key support across a broad range of legal, regulatory and commercial matters. As we expand globally and enhance our product offerings, the legal team plays a pivotal role alongside business growth and also the continued success and protection of the existing businesses.  This role offers exposure to a variety of key project work, both directly and in in a supervisory capacity.  

You'll build your leadership capabilities while supervising lawyers on their work, contributing your valued viewpoints in context of advising and steering projects and working alongside senior executives. Your strategic guidance will help shape both our CFD trading and stockbroking businesses, giving you broad exposure across financial products and markets

What you’ll be working on

 You’ll drive legal excellence by:

  • Leading and developing legal professionals, including supervising legal work, mentoring and coaching team members, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Drafting, advising and managing client legal disclosure documents for our CFD and stockbroking businesses across Australia, New Zealand and any new jurisdiction from time to time.
  • Apart from legal support in projects, providing strategic legal support to a range of other teams including  Compliance, the Disputes Team, Business Operations, Marketing, Sales and HR. .
  • Navigating key areas of law including Australian Corporations Act (e.g. AFSL obligations, DDO, retail client disclosures), , privacy laws, intellectual property law and regulatory reform.

What will help you be successful?

We are seeking an experienced legal professional with 10+ PQE and an unrestricted Australian practising certificate to join our team.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of the Corporations Act and other relevant Australian legislation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transactional legal work, commercial problem-solving and delivering pragmatic legal advice.
  • Experience within the financial services, fintech, or broader technology sector.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including experience managing and developing lawyers and legal teams.
  • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and operate effectively in a fast-paced commercial environment.
