The CIO for Technology team ensures that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to delight our customers and support our Group Strategy.
We work hard to ensure that best practice, whether inside CommBank or outside in the broader technology ecosystem, is discovered, sheltered, nurtured, and spread to wherever else it can drive the most benefit for the Group and our customers.

Do work those matters:
Working in the Engineering Practice as the Senior Manager Engineering Performance & Skills Growth you will be collaborating with various stakeholders, including technology skilling teams, engineering leaders, and key leads, to ensure our engineers have access to the best training and development opportunities so that we can continue to raise the bar in engineering.
Your role:

Skills Framework Development: Create and maintain a transparent skills curriculum that guides engineers in their development and clearly indicates promotion readiness.

Training Collaboration: Work closely with the technology skilling team to ensure training programs are aligned with our goal of raising engineering skills.

Leadership Engagement: Partner with engineering leaders to identify and support upskilling opportunities for engineers, ensuring minimal impact on deliverables.

Skills-Driven Training: Promote and drive engineering skills-driven training among engineers and their leaders.

Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management processes that support engineers in achieving their best work and align with organisational goals.

Performance Metrics: Design and produce engineering leadership metrics to ensure people are building amazing teams and prioritising their people’s needs.

Job Architecture: Ensure the engineering job architecture remains fit for purpose by collaborating with key leads to update it as needed.

Take the lead in driving a high-performance culture across all of engineering.

Get involved in other Engineering Practice streams of work when there is capacity to support our other key deliverables.
We are interested in hearing from people who possess:

Proven experience in a similar role within an engineering or technology environment.

Strong understanding of engineering skills development and training methodologies.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Strategic thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and raising standards.

Experience working with Agile ways of working, including tooling such as Jira & Confluence
-
Demonstrated risk & cost management mindset.
