The role / impact
You will lead Xero’s response to business-critical communications, managing live issues and crises that impact our customers, partners, and brand reputation. This high-profile role requires you to anticipate emerging risks and develop proactive strategies to mitigate reputational issues before they escalate, ensuring Xero remains a trusted voice in the small business community.
By taking a cross-organisational view, you will provide expert counsel to senior leaders and support the management of our external brand. Your work will ensure that even during challenging times, our communications remain clear, accessible, and human, helping to build a stronger economy and empower our community.
The team / how they connect
You will join the Global Corporate Communications team, working closely with the General Manager and Director of Corporate Communications to identify and implement strategic objectives. This collaborative group connects with legal, security, government relations, and marketing teams worldwide to ensure a coordinated and transparent approach to Xero’s reputation.
This is a 10 months Parental leave cover, with a potential to extend.
Initially, you will focus on

Collaborating on key corporate projects and announcements that support our global reputation.
Normalising the use of AI within the team to uplift existing processes and documents.
Where and how you can work
This is a temporary 10-month contract based in New Zealand or Australia. We offer a hybrid working environment where you can balance time in our modern office spaces with working from home, supported by our "boost days" to maintain team connection and wellbeing.
Here are some of the things we are looking for
You bring deep experience in corporate communications and issues management within a listed company or global environment.
