The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking a Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Development to contribute to the growth of our Australia Defence and Security Solutions (ADSS) business.

The position is focused on driving business excellence and revenue growth. You will leverage your significant business experience to lead a team of Business Development and Capture professionals to identify opportunities and develop strategies for our existing client base and adjacent markets.

In addition to people leadership, you will strengthen relationships with customers and industry partners, lead external engagement to develop new customers, undertake market assessment, and collaborate to implement organic growth strategies.

This position will require an active AGSVA security clearance on commencement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Business Development and Capture and Proposals teams
  • Develop and implement growth strategies including assessment of existing, adjacent and potential new markets
  • Manage resources to effectively identify and pursue strategic opportunities and organic opportunities
  • Uplift growth capacity within the business by coaching and mentoring relevant colleagues
  • Manage the development, optimisation and maintenance of awards and captures processes across the Business Development Lifecycle
  • Engage customers to strengthen relationships
  • Act as a values-based senior leader and role model within the business, demonstrating commercial acumen and emotional intelligence in the execution of your duties

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in a technical field, or business, marketing or other Defence-relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a leadership role in a Defence business focused on growth functions such as strategy, business development or capture
  • Deep understanding of Australian Defence acquisition and capability lifecycles
  • Proven ability to think strategically, develop business plans, identify and grow new markets, lead and develop teams, manage risk and financial outcomes
  • Exceptional networking and communication skills, and financial and commercial acumen
  • Refined business development and commercial acumen to help develop winning responses, and identify and manage risks in proposed solutions
  • Application of critical thinking to evaluate opportunities, assess risks and make informed choices
  • You must hold or be able to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance
