The Senior Manager Technology, Developer Experience leads the team responsible for building the internal platforms, tools and automation that empower developers to deliver high-quality software quickly, safely and with minimal friction.

This role treats developers as customers and is accountable for improving every part of the software delivery lifecycle, from local development environments through to deployment pipelines, runtime container platforms, CI/CD tooling, GitOps processes, secrets management, and internal developer portals.

You will work closely with Engineering, Platform Ops, SRE, SecOps and Architecture to ensure developers have a seamless, consistent and highly productive experience across the organisation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design, governance and standardisation of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices across all engineering teams.
  • Own the developer‑facing container platform experience (ECS/EKS), driving secure, reliable and self‑service consumption.
  • Own core developer platforms and tooling, including artifact repositories, secrets management, and version control standards.
  • Own the Akamai (CDN) platform, embedding automation and infrastructure‑as‑code into CDN configuration and change management.
  • Build and maintain developer self‑service platforms (e.g. Backstage) for access to services, environments, documentation and delivery workflows.
  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of engineers, and drive engineering culture improvements focused on automation, self‑service and developer empathy.

You’ll have: 

  • Significant experience working in Cloud Technology, from large enterprise environments or equivalent organisations.
  • Strong demonstrated Technical People leadership experience
  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Developer roles
  • Strong demonstrated Akamai and container platform skills 
  • Excellent communication, influence, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience managing artifact repositories (Nexus, ECR) and build pipelines.
  • Strong background in secrets management, identity, access control and
  • secure pipeline design.
  • Proven experience improving SDLC efficiency, lead time, deployment frequency and release quality.
  • Strong engineering leadership skills, including coaching, governance and stakeholder management.
  • Product mindset, ability to gather feedback, shape roadmaps, and deliver impactful internal tools.
  • Excellent communication and ability to partner with engineering, security and operations teams.
