OVERVIEW OF ROLE

As a Senior Electronics Engineer at Advanced Navigation, you will operate at the tip of the spear within our 'skunkworks' Special Projects Team. You will fulfill the critical role of designing the highly specialized custom electronics responsible for capturing, protecting, and processing the high-precision sensor signals at the heart of our world-leading navigation products. Acting as an elite problem solver, you will deploy fluidly across all product teams within Advanced Navigation to tackle our most complex, urgent, and ambiguous technical challenges.

You will leverage your deep knowledge acquired through 5+ years of previous work on sensitive digital and analog electronics, microprocessors, multi-protocol interfaces, GNSS, MEMS, and Fiber Optic Systems to interpret and descend System & Product specifications into sub-system requirements. Because of the fast-paced nature of the Special Projects Team, you will establish clear test and acceptance criteria before rapidly creating, testing, and deploying them as low EMI PCBA designs intended for volume manufacture.

Having mastered Altium Designer's capture and layout capabilities across rigid and flexible PCB design, you will augment your rapid-response workflow with accurate Spice simulations, Power Budgets, design for manufacturing/cost, and ECAD / MCAD integrations. This ensures your designs are functional, verifiably fit for purpose, and ready to unblock any product line.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cross-Functional Problem Solving: Serve as a key 'skunkworks' technical contact across various multidisciplinary meetings including Product, Program, and Production to unblock critical organizational challenges.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Identify design risks and rapidly construct and test targeted prototypes that mitigate design uncertainty for any product team in need.
  • Architecture & Design: Interpret Product & System-level specifications to create electronic architectures and sub-system requirements that can be executed and tested against.
  • PCBA Development: Design (simulate, capture & layout) flexible and rigid PCBAs that fulfill all functional requirements within the mechanical constraints.
  • Multidisciplinary Integration: Anticipate cross-functional impacts and proactively liaise across Embedded SW, Mechanical, and Production disciplines.
  • Collaboration: Work intimately with Mechanical, Embedded SW, and Production counterparts to incorporate and balance cross-functional requirements across the entire Advanced Navigation portfolio.
  • Advanced Capabilities: Represent and elevate our advanced capabilities in GNSS Spoofing and Jamming detection.
  • Signal Integrity: Analyze and curtail noise incursions into sensitive signal paths.
  • Process Agility: Improve and accelerate design review and release processes to maintain the high velocity expected of a special projects unit.
  • Commercial Focus: Maintain an outcome-oriented mindset throughout the design and release process to ensure both technical and commercial imperatives can be met.
  • Project Management: Develop Work Breakdown Structures in Jira and maintain the hygiene of active tickets and assigned tasks. Provide timing estimates and maintain accountability for agreed deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance: Document test procedures and work instructions. Co-ordinate and conduct EMC testing.
