We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Senior Media Adviser to play a key role in RBA’s Media function.  This is a pivotal role, where you will drive public, media and communications activities shaping the nation’s economic conversation and knowledge base.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Using established networks with journalists and editors, convey the RBA’s message through media coverage, contributed articles, speeches, publications, press releases, public appearances and responses to inquiries.

  • Coordinate and contribute to the continual development of strong media relations.

  • Develop, coordinate and update a set of key messages for senior leaders across the RBA for media and other external engagements.   

  • Scope and lead the design, delivery and measurement of multiple external media campaigns.

  • Develop and deliver media and engagement plans (external) for members of the Executive Committee and Monetary Policy Board. 

To ensure your success you will possess:

  • Extensive experience in a media facing role and proven ability to work effectively with journalists and editors.

  • Extensive experience developing and implementing media strategies for c-suite executives and non-executive directors.

  • Experience in identifying audiences and channels and driving and influencing media messaging. 

  • In depth experience of designing, delivering and measuring media campaigns.

  • Strong Project Management skills 

  • Excellent written communications skills and media contacts

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage complex issues in the public arena.

  • Understanding of Bank-wide (or similar organisation) and area-specific policies and processes, and demonstrated ability to monitor and guide on compliance, as well as influence others outside of own area.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
