With over 20 years’ experience in workers compensation claims management, a unique opportunity exists to join a new DXC team. DXC are currently partnering with a reputable Government Health Organsiation, setting up their Wokers' Compensation Department and would love you to join the team as a Senior Mental Injury Claims Case Manager.
As a Senior Mental Injury Claims Case Manager you will manage and support employees who have sustained mental or psychological injuries due to work-related incidents. You will work closely with medical professionals, legal teams, claimants, and employers to ensure that the injured employee receives appropriate care, support, and benefits in line with workers' compensation regulations.
Key elements to this role include
- Take ownership of complex or high-risk mental injury claims, providing expert guidance and support to ensure fair and timely resolution.
- Develop and implement effective case management strategies for employees with mental health injuries, ensuring the best possible care and return-to-work plans.
- Work closely with injured employees, medical professionals, legal teams, and insurance providers to coordinate care, ensure accurate documentation, and facilitate communication throughout the claims process.
- Assess claims for eligibility, reviewing medical records, treatment plans, and other documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal workers' compensation laws.
- Oversee the review of claim files to ensure that all aspects, including medical documentation, treatment plans, and benefits, are accurately processed and meet necessary guidelines.
- Act as an advocate for employees, providing support and resources to help them manage their mental health recovery and return to work, including accommodations or rehabilitation services when needed.
- Mentor and train junior case managers, providing guidance on best practices, legal requirements, and effective case management techniques for mental injury claims.
- Handle disputes and conflicts related to mental injury claims, working collaboratively with legal and claims teams to resolve issues and ensure that employees’ rights are protected.
To be successful
- Experience as a Senior Case Manager with the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme, ideally in Return to Work, Long-Term Case Management or Mental Injury Claims.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Decision making, negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work with different IT applications.
- Experience assessing and determining liability on claims.
- Preparing for, attending and performing at claims reviews highlighting your excellent claims strategies, results and
communicating further with your stakeholders. - Assist workers in returning to work and manage chronic ill health through person-centred case management.
- Ensure entitlements to compensation are made appropriately and timely
