We combine pedestrian modelling, movement planning, spatial analytics and strategic advisory services to help clients make informed decisions about transport networks, public spaces, precincts, venues and major infrastructure investments.

 

Our specialists work across a diverse range of projects, from transport hubs, city centres and major events to healthcare campuses, education facilities, commercial developments and public realm improvements. Through evidence-based insights, advanced modelling tools and innovative thinking, we help clients create places that are accessible, inclusive and designed around people. 

 

The opportunity

 

We're looking for an experienced Senior Pedestrian Modeller/ Senior Consultant – Movement Strategies to join our growing team. In this role, you'll work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically robust and client-focused movement strategies that influence the planning, design and operation of some of the most significant major games, complex infrastructure and building services projects in Australia.

 

You will take a lead role in delivering pedestrian modelling and movement planning projects, while also contributing to business development, client engagement and the growth of our emerging Movement Strategies capability.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating better places through the application of data, analytics and human-centred design principles.

 

This diverse and exciting role will see you working on national and international projects, with responsibilities including:

  • Lead pedestrian modelling, crowd movement and people flow projects, including the development, calibration and interpretation of simulation models and strategic movement assessments.

  • Undertake spatial and network analysis and provide strategic advice on connectivity, accessibility and pedestrian performance across transport, precinct, urban development and infrastructure projects.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists to develop integrated solutions and prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.

  • Manage project tasks, budgets and timelines to ensure technical quality and client satisfaction, while supporting proposals, business development and client relationships.

  • Mentor junior team members, build capability and contribute to innovation, research and thought leadership in pedestrian modelling and movement planning.

 

What would you bring to the team?

  • A relevant degree in transport planning, civil engineering, urban planning, geography, mathematics, data science, architecture, urban design or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.

  • Experience in pedestrian modelling, crowd analysis or movement and transport planning, supported by a strong understanding of pedestrian behaviour, active transport principles, industry standards and best practice.

  • Proficiency in modelling and analytics platforms such as Legion, MassMotion, Viswalk, Pathfinder, GIS or similar tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and translate findings into practical recommendations.

  • Demonstrated success delivering multidisciplinary projects to deadline, building trusted stakeholder and client relationships, and collaborating with and mentoring others.

 

We will consider candidates to work in any of GHD’s Australian offices; however Melbourne is our preference.
