About the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver a high-quality work product on large & complex Personal Lines claims through prompt and professional contact with customers and brokers and through the effective investigation, reserving and adjustment of claims incurred by insureds.
This role is a senior position within the claims team, suitable for an experienced claims professional seeking to further develop their career with exposure to broader areas of the claims business beyond managing a claims portfolio. The role also requires a willingness and ability to support the growth and development of other team members by leading by example and serving as a mentor.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage major and complex Personal Lines claims from cradle to grave, ensuring claims are handled in line with policy terms, relevant legislation, legal principles, Chubb’s Best Practice Guidelines, and Claims Handling Guidelines.
  • Assess damage and quantum, set and maintain accurate reserves, identify large losses, and report significant claims internally in line with business requirements.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, secure and verify supporting documentation, document all claim developments accurately in the claims system, and exercise sound judgement to reach fair claim resolutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers, service providers, and internal stakeholders to support a smooth claims process and promote confidence in Chubb’s claims service.
  • Manage vendor performance, control external costs, identify fraud and subrogation opportunities, and seek technical support where claims exceed delegated authority.
  • Maintain effective diary and workload management to ensure timely file progression, negotiation of settlements where appropriate, and compliance with the General Insurance Code of Practice, AFSL obligations, the Insurance Contracts Act, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification (Degree preferred).
  • Relevant industry qualifications (e.g. ANZIIF) or studying towards.
  • 5+ years’ experience in handling Major and Complex Personal Lines Claims.
  • Strong written and verbal communication related to claims handling.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word/Excel and ability to construct claim reports as required.
  • Ability to manage self and time effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
