Challenger is seeking a Senior Pricing Actuary for a 12-month opportunity. You’ll bring proven experience in pricing or capital roles, with exposure to longevity risk seen as a strong advantage.
Opportunity and Responsibilities
This is a unique opportunity to join Challenger’s Reinsurance Pricing team, responsible for setting market pricing and modelling risk across life (re)insurance opportunities.
Based in our Sydney head office, you’ll gain exposure to a diverse range of products, markets, and internal functions — contributing directly to Challenger’s longevity strategy. You’ll lead and manage end-to-end pricing processes — from technical calculations to stakeholder engagement — ensuring outcomes align with strategic and commercial goals.
Working as part of a close-knit and collaborative team, you will:
- Manage and conduct actuarial pricing to meet commercial objectives.
- Manage products, tenders, client requests, and development projects.
- Analyse industry trends and historical experience to inform pricing assumptions.
- Build and refine quantitative models to assess capital requirements and returns across multiple regulatory environments.
- Prepare and present pricing results, taking ownership of analysis and insights.
- Develop and enhance complex pricing models to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Support client communication and approval processes, engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Team & Culture
You’ll be part of a close-knit team of four actuarial pricing professionals, reporting to the Head of Reinsurance Pricing. The team is collaborative, supportive, and values independence, technical excellence, and a proactive approach.
Working at the intersection of technical analysis, model development, and stakeholder engagement, the team plays a key role in shaping Challenger’s reinsurance strategy. We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, commercially minded, and able to combine actuarial rigour with practical business insight.
About You
We’re seeking a qualified actuary with strong technical expertise and commercial acumen, capable of managing complex projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Previous pricing or capital experience is required, and experience or understanding of longevity risk will be viewed favourably.
- Qualified Actuary (FIAA qualification or international equivalent).
- Strong actuarial problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in capital modelling, testing, and communicating different return metrics.
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Prophet, Moses, or Access advantageous.
