As a Senior Product Designer, you'll collaborate with teams to design mobile experiences, conduct user research, and ensure design quality for the Xero Accounting App.
Our Purpose
At Xero, we’re here to help you supercharge your business. We do this by automating routine tasks, surfacing actionable insights and connecting businesses with the right data, advisors and apps. When that happens, we’re not only making life better for small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
About the team & role:
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join the team behind the Xero Accounting App (XAA) – our flagship mobile experience that helps small business owners stay on top of their finances, wherever they are. As part of the Mobile team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobile accounting at Xero, partnering with cross-functional leaders across design, product, and engineering to drive high-quality outcomes.
As a Senior Product Designer, you'll design beautiful, enabling and meaningful experiences that solve genuine customer problems. You're a seasoned designer and will work closely with Product and Technology to drive design work on medium to large scale projects.
What you'll do:
- Design Practice and Thinking: collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other designers. You'll champion the value of design, dive into research and analysis, help define the problems we're solving, and create design frameworks (think wireframes, visual layouts, etc.). You'll explore innovative interaction solutions, develop phased design approaches, build prototypes, and work closely with other designers. Designing for accessibility and creating detailed interactions and interfaces will also be key.
- Mobile Design: Develop phased design solutions that bridge the gap between a future state and current patterns, XUI Mobile design system, iOS, iPadOS, Android and other relevant constraints and considerations
- Design Research and Testing: help identify research opportunities and participate in planning and conducting research and testing. You'll be involved in user research to understand customer needs, synthesise data, and contribute to user testing.
- Relationship Management: you'll influence, challenge, and support other designers to deliver fantastic product experiences. You'll contribute to strategic product initiatives, facilitate team workshops, and collaborate across teams to balance user needs, business goals, and technical possibilities. Working closely with development teams during sprints to ensure design quality and solve issues is also part of the role.
What you'll bring with you
- A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality outcomes that contribute to business value
- Track record of designing native mobile experiences across iOS and Android
- Strong UI skills
- Excellent communication skills and storytelling ability
- Track record of innovating and delivering complex design experiences at scale
- Experience building and iterating on a product or experiences based on usage patterns
- A strong desire to share design thinking, combined with an openness to collaborate.
