The Reserve Bank of Australia is running a Core Modernisation program which involves a major upgrade of core technology infrastructure. We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to assist with the Application Migrations of the program.

Superb opportunity for Senior Project Manager to lead an extensive technology project, bring your skills and be empowered to have your voice heard. This is a fixed term salaried assignment till 30 June 2027.

 

Objective:

  • Manage, plan, and deliver complex infrastructure, data centre and application migration projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and benefit realisation targets.

  • Apply Agile, hybrid, and traditional project management methodologies to effectively manage project lifecycles, dependencies, resources, governance, and delivery outcomes while ensuring compliance with organisational frameworks and standards.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business and system stakeholders, technology teams, vendors and partners balancing business priorities with delivery timelines and driving informed decision-making.

  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and change impacts, implementing mitigation strategies and corrective actions to minimise delivery and operational risk.

  • Lead cross-functional teams across vendor resources, infrastructure, architecture, business analysts, applications, security, and integration services to ensure successful migration planning, testing, cutover, and operational transition.

  • Provide clear project reporting, communication, and governance, leveraging data-driven insights to track performance, improve delivery outcomes, and promote project management best practices across the organisation.

 

Technical Capabilities:

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, data centre and technology transformation programs with strong understanding of servers, storage, virtualization, hosting environments, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructcure technologies and components, firewalls, load balancing, security controls and application migration-related processes.

  • Experience managing application discovery, migration, re-platforming, remediation, testing, and cutover activities, with strong understanding of application architectures, middleware, APIs, and integration dependencies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid delivery methodologies, with proven ability to influence stakeholders, manage vendors, facilitate decision-making, and establish effective governance frameworks.

  • Advanced proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Excel, Power BI, and project reporting tools, with strong capability in project planning, resource forecasting, dependency mapping, data analysis, RAID management, and executive reporting. 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience.

  • Desirable PRINCE2 Practitioner.

  • Desirable Professional certification of a widely used Project or Program Management discipline. This may include Agile related certifications if appropriate (Certified Scrum Master certification or equivalent certification in Agile methodologies).
