What will you do? 

As a Project Manager within our Newcastle Program Performance Advisory team, you will play a key role in delivering complex Defence facilities and infrastructure projects. Working as part of a project management consulting team, representing client interests, you will partner with clients, designers and contractors to plan, coordinate and oversee the delivery of projects from inception through to completion. 

In this role, you will take ownership of multiple projects and work packages, ensuring they are delivered in line with client expectations across scope, time, cost and quality, and operate with a high degree of autonomy while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment. 

You will: 

  • Oversee projects supporting Project Directors or Program Leaders delivering infrastructure projects from inception to completion.  

  • Represent client interests through oversight and coordination of project delivery 

  • Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects and work packages 

  • Develop and manage project activities and deliverables aligned with PMBOK principles and best practice methodologies 

  • Coordinate design, procurement and delivery activities across stakeholders 

  • Administer contracts and manage commercial matters on behalf of the client 

  • Proactively manage risk, change, cost, schedule and quality outcomes 

  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors 

  • Provide clear reporting on project status, performance and key risks 

  • Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate 

  • Work within a structured and supportive team environment 

What you’ll bring? 

As a Project Manager, you’ll contribute to projects and programs that make a real difference and be part of a team that embraces challenges, welcomes diverse ideas, and design solutions with people and outcomes in mind.   

  • Relevant qualification, such as a Diploma in Project Management or a degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field 

  • Be an Australian Citizen and eligible for security clearance (AGSVA requirements apply) and hold a valid driver’s licence.  

  • Deliver infrastructure/capital projects across the full lifecycle (planning to close-out)

  • Apply project management frameworks (e.g. PMBOK) in a practical, outcome-focused way

  • Manage multiple projects/workstreams, balancing priorities and deadlines

  • Establish project governance, reporting, and controls

  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost control; understand contracts and procurement

  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities

  • Build strong client relationships and manage diverse stakeholders

  • Communicate confidently and facilitate workshops and meetings

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues

  • Maintain project controls, quality assurance, and continuous improvement

  • Work proactively and collaboratively with strong organisation and attention to detail

  • Understand engineering/construction processes and translate technical inputs into clear deliverables

It would be advantageous if you also have: 

  • Experience in Defence or government project environments 

  • Experience working across the full project lifecycle
