  • We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. 

What you’ll do  

As our Senior Risk and Compliance Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing our robust governance, risk, and compliance framework.

Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, you'll provide essential advisory services to our investment managers and ensure that Challenger Group and our Affiliates stay ahead and compliant in an ever-changing environment and dynamic regulatory landscape.   You’ll be part of a high-performing team where collaboration and mutual respect drive results.

A role where no two days will be the same, you’ll work holistically across a wide portfolio of risk & compliance work some of your key responsibilities will include. 

  • Expert Risk & Compliance Advice: Provide value add risk and compliance guidance to senior management and Affiliates. 

  • Risk Management: Maintain Affiliate Risk Frameworks and collaborate with stakeholders to proactively identify and manage emerging risks. 

  • Framework Development: Create, implement, and oversee risk frameworks, compliance plans, and essential policies. 

  • Workshops and Assessments: Lead risk workshops, scenario analyses, and control self-assessments to enhance risk management. 

  • Reporting: Produce and present comprehensive reports to boards, committees, and management. 

  • Document Review: Examine investment management agreements, product disclosure statements, and marketing materials. 

  • Audit Oversight: Manage audit requirements and ensure prompt completion of post-trade exception actions. 

  • Regulatory Advice: Guide regulatory interactions and maintain the GRC system effectively. 

The skills and experience you’ll need 

You’re an experienced Risk & Compliance professional with a strong grounding in the financial services regulatory environment — ideally with exposure to the investment and funds management industry.

Known for your collaborative approach, you build trusted relationships across teams and contribute to a culture of shared accountability and continuous improvement.

A confident communicator, you bring a track record of partnering with senior stakeholders and delivering practical, best practice guidance on all things risk and compliance. You know how to present with clarity, and have a knack for making complex information accessible, accurate, and actionable.

As well as;  

  • Experience in managing a robust risk and compliance framework across a diverse financial services business.  

  • Strong knowledge of financial services laws and regulatory frameworks. 

  • Good understanding of risk and compliance management practices and frameworks  

  • Continuous improvement mindset  

Highly desirable for you to also have  

  • Knowledge of investment and specialist funds management industry practices and procedures  

  • Post-graduate qualifications in finance, risk management, compliance, or governance. 

  • Certification in risk management or compliance (GARP, PRMIA, RMIA, GRC Institute).
