Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Atlassian is looking for a Senior Red Team Operator to join our internal Red Team. Our mission is to continuously increase the resilience of Atlassian against sophisticated attacks. Acting from a hostile perspective, we uncover technical, physical and social vulnerabilities to challenge our teams ability to react under real conditions. This approach helps Atlassian evaluate threats, protect our assets and respond appropriately to real attacks.
Your Future Team
As part of a unified R&D team, Engineering is prioritising key initiatives which support our customers in moving to cloud while simultaneously continuing to bring the most value to our customers through investments across our core product suite - including Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Bitbucket.
To support this the Red Team applies an attacker mindset to Atlassian in order to test and exercise our defences. We're looking for a Senior Operator to bring their unique skills and experience to the team.
In this role, you will:

  • Carry out complex operations from concept to post-operation with a high degree of skill and work ethic
  • Translate real-world threat actor behaviours into relevant attacks on Atlassian
  • Continuously probe, test and exercise Atlassian's defences
  • Keep detailed records of operational activity for deconfliction and later uses
  • Produce detailed and meaningful post-operation reports
  • Collaborate with other groups to multiply our impact
  • Work on other projects as required
  • Continuously improve your skillset and increase your impact

  • Senior-level offensive security operator skills in a broad range of tactics and techniques
  • An adversarial mindset and the ability to think like an attacker
  • Very good problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Good understanding of ethical hacking methodologies, cybersecurity frameworks, and risk management strategies
  • Fundamental information technology skills in systems, networking and IAAS
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages
  • Very Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A mature outlook and understanding of a Red Team's business value
  • Self-driven with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications
