Job Description

  • Full-time, ongoing position at HEW Level 8.
  • Parramatta South campus with flexible working arrangements.
  • Salary: $118,969 – $132,069 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity
At Western Sydney University, we are creating a new era for AI enablement across education, research and operations. Through this role you will join a landmark opportunity to share the future of our AI capabilities that will underpin future success and our transition to an AI-powered world, withing a people-first mindset. You will work with stakeholders across Western Sydney University to identify, shape and progress opportunities for the effective use of generative and agentic AI. Working across curriculum, research, operations and professional services, you will help define business needs, user journeys, capability uplift requirements and opportunities where AI can deliver practical value.

 

You will translate stakeholder priorities into clear use cases, functional requirements, success measures and solution pathways. You will work closely with the AI Technical Lead, AI Solutions Engineers, data teams, IT, cyber security, privacy, governance and business stakeholders to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, secure, supportable and aligned with enterprise architecture.

 

You will also support Western’s AI Use Case Portfolio and contribute to AI literacy, communities of practice, workshops, demonstrations and practical guidance. Through this work, you will help stakeholders apply AI safely, responsibly and effectively while ensuring initiatives align with strategic goals, operational needs, data governance, privacy, cyber security and responsible AI principles.

  • Stakeholder needs are converted into clear, prioritised and technically feasible AI use cases.
  • AI initiatives are assessed against value, feasibility, risk, readiness and strategic alignment.
  • Business, technical and governance stakeholders are connected early in solution design.
  • AI literacy, adoption and awareness activities support safe and responsible use.
  • Proposed AI solutions are practical, secure, supportable and aligned with enterprise needs.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in information technology, business analysis, data science, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, education technology, business, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering requirements, analysing business problems, mapping processes, defining use cases and supporting digital, data, automation or AI-enabled solutions.
  • Applied understanding of generative AI, agentic AI, automation, data, analytics, Microsoft 365, Copilot, workflow tools, integration concepts and enterprise technology environments.
  • Strong business analysis and solution advisory skills, with the ability to assess feasibility and value, document requirements and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across academic, professional, technical and executive stakeholder groups.
