The Enterprise Strategy and Change Department enables the Reserve Bank of Australia to deliver on its strategic agenda through enterprise strategic planning, governing the enterprise project portfolio, delivering IT-enabled change, and embedding continuous improvement.
Within this department, the Strategy & Continuous Improvement team plays a central role in shaping the Bank’s strategic direction and driving operational excellence. A key focus of the team is establishing an enterprise‑wide continuous improvement capability, supported by fit‑for‑purpose frameworks, a community of practice, best practices, and approaches, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives that drive measurable outcomes. This includes improving operational efficiency and effectiveness, unlocking capacity, uplifting continuous improvement capability, strengthening risk and control environments, and ensuring initiatives are clearly aligned to enterprise priorities and deliver sustained benefits.
This role reports to the Manager – Continuous Improvement, and works closely with the Manager – Strategic Planning to support enterprise-wide initiatives. While the primary focus is on enterprise continuous improvement, the role may flex to support strategic planning and execution efforts as needed, ensuring balanced delivery across the broader team.
ABOUT THE ROLEAs a Senior Strategy and Continuous Improvement Specialist (Continuous Improvement Focus), you will:
Contribute to the development of the Bank’s enterprise continuous improvement capability, embedding practices that enhance performance and align with the Bank's strategic priorities.
Design and evolve the Bank's enterprise continuous improvement frameworks and approaches, ensuring alignment with planning and governance processes.
Conduct structured analysis and reviews to identify, frame, and prioritise continuous improvement opportunities.
Lead and facilitate workshops and working sessions to progress problem solving, align stakeholders, and uplift continuous improvement capability.
Lead, shape and support delivery of enterprise-wide continuous improvement initiatives to address complex organisational challenges, ensuring clear linkage to measurable outcomes and enterprise objectives.
Support the development of a continuous improvement community of practice, including contributing to capability uplift, knowledge sharing, and adoption of consistent approaches across the organisation.
Work collaboratively across the Strategy & Continuous Improvement team to ensure initiatives are aligned, prioritised, and collectively deliver enterprise outcomes.
Engage with senior leaders, committees and governance forums, communicating insights and recommendations clearly to support decision-making.
Contribute to building a disciplined, high-performing continuous improvement function with sustained enterprise impact.
Experience & Expertise
Leadership and practitioner (8+ years) experience in continuous improvement, process optimisation and/or transformation roles within large complex organisations.
Meaningful experience in strategy or management consulting environment (or equivalent), with a strong consulting toolkit would be highly advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience applying structured methodologies to design and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
Proven experience working with senior stakeholders and contributing to enterprise-level initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to identify improvement opportunities and translate them into actionable plans and measurable outcomes aligned to enterprise strategy.
Experience contributing to the establishment and scaling of continuous improvement capabilities, including supporting communities of practice, capability uplift, and adoption of consistent approaches across the organisation.
Experience in financial services or public sector environments (highly regarded).
Skills & Capabilities
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise information into clear insights and recommendations.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual) with the ability to influence and engage across all levels.
Strong workshop design and facilitation skills.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a high-performing team.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity, complexity, learning and adapting quickly, and delivering results in a dynamic and fast-pace environment.
Understanding of financial services regulation, compliance, and institutional accountability (highly regarded).
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) (highly regarded).
Certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, Agile, or Project/Program Management are advantageous but not essential.
