The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Systems Engineer based in our Macquarie University, NSW office. In this role, the successful Senior Systems Engineer will lead systems engineering activities across sound processor product development projects, driving the design, development and delivery of innovative solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide technical leadership, define system architectures and requirements, support product family engineering strategies, and ensure high-quality products are delivered to meet customer and business needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading systems engineering activities for sound processor product development projects.
- Collaborate to define system architecture, product requirements and maintaining requirement traceability.
- Driving system-level design decisions, issue resolution and cross-functional technical alignment.
- Leading feature development, including requirements definition, design, verification and deployment.
- Supporting regulatory submissions through the creation of high-quality technical documentation.
- Contributing to product family engineering strategy, systems engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering or Science, preferably in Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or Systems Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' post-qualification engineering experience within an R&D environment.
- Experience working with firmware-controlled systems and/or embedded signal processing technologies.
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, methods and tools used in medical device development.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and experience delivering outcomes in a collaborative team environment.
Ideal:
- Understanding of the technical architecture and application of Cochlear products and systems.
- Experience with Product Family Engineering principles and reference design concepts.
- Experience in sound processor development or implantable device systems.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries, particularly medical devices.
- Experience working in Agile product development environments.
- Demonstrated capability to provide technical leadership, mentoring and systems engineering guidance.
