CIMIC Group is a leading international contractor delivering some of the world’s most complex infrastructure, with a diversified portfolio across construction, engineering, mining and services businesses. Our Group Tax team plays a critical role in supporting how the business grows, invests and operates – both locally and globally. We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our high‑performing Tax team. This role offers hands-on exposure to major transactions, international tax issues and large-group tax compliance, with the opportunity to work across functions and disciplines. It is an ideal next step for someone looking to broaden their experience and accelerate their career, in a complex, global organisation.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering expert tax advice and robust tax compliance outcomes across the CIMIC Group. You will support transactions and projects where tax compliance, structuring and governance intersect, working collaboratively with the Group Tax team, cross‑functional partners in M&A, Finance, Legal and Treasury, and the Group’s operating companies.

Your role will focus on managing tax risk, supporting informed strategic decision-making and ensuring strong governance across a diverse and multi-jurisdictional business.  You will gain broad exposure across international tax, tax effect accounting, M&A structuring, compliance, governance and tax transparency initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Effect Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and support quarterly, half‑year and annual tax effect accounting for the CIMIC Group.
  • Support shareholder, global and internal tax reporting.

International Tax Advisory

  • Assist with international tax matters including OECD requirements (CbC, GloBE Pillar 2), transfer pricing and transparency initiatives.
  • Assist with managing international tax compliance obligations.

M&A and Transaction Support

  • Support tax due diligence, structuring and deal execution for Australian and global transactions.
  • Draft, review and negotiate tax clauses in transaction documentation.
  • Support post‑deal integration including entity rationalisation and tax workbooks.

Compliance, Governance & Risk

  • Support Australian and global tax compliance related to major transactions.
  • Assist with reviews, audits and inquiries from Australian and offshore revenue authorities.
  • Monitor tax legislation changes and translate impacts to management.
  • Maintain governance frameworks, supporting documentation and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, shareholders, advisors and revenue authorities.
  • Help lift tax awareness and capability across the Group.

About You

  • Bachelor degree in Tax, Accounting, Commerce, Business or Law.
  • CA, CPA, CTA or equivalent qualification (or Masters in Law/Tax).
  • 4+ years’ experience in a similar tax role.
  • Big 4 or large corporate experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid grounding in corporate and international tax.
  • Exposure to cross‑border or multi‑jurisdictional tax matters desirable.
  • Confident communicator who enjoys working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Why CIMIC Group

  • Work on high‑impact, complex transactions across a global organisation.
  • Engage with senior leaders and diverse business units.
  • Grow your career in a dynamic, high‑performing Tax team.
  • Competitive remuneration and access to a wide range of employee benefits.
  • Inclusive culture committed to wellbeing, professional development and safety.
