What You’ll Do

Product & Technology - Software Engineering & IT develops and maintains Telstra's software and IT systems, working on some really cutting-edge technologies.

Sitting in a one of Telstra’s most business-critical teams, as Software Developer, you will work on projects and initiatives that effect and ensure relationships with our critical partners are managed and serviced accordingly. You will be analytic and evolve the most feasible solution based on the requirements of various projects and programs. You will assist with the development of software solution in order to provide legally compliant solution to meet Telstra’s legal and regulatory obligation, as well as building successful solution that provides business benefit

About You

knowledge in software application layer solutions and the software development lifecycle, to experiment, solve problems and own solutions that transform epics into new product features and capabilities. Your continuous learning and improvement mindset and collaboration skills are critical to success in this role, as you continue to deepen your knowledge and expertise in the Software Engineering Domain.

Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions across multiple platforms.

  • Write clean, efficient code with strong test coverage, while conducting code reviews and ongoing system maintenance.

  • Translate business and customer requirements into user stories, technical solutions and delivery plans.

  • Contribute to roadmap planning through accurate estimation, prioritisation and project delivery management.

  • Build and enhance automated build, test and deployment processes to improve development efficiency.

  • Provide technical leadership by researching new technologies, defining best practices, producing documentation, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

Essential:

  • Be an Australian Citizen. Candidates with PR or other Visa types will not be considered.

  • We are looking for a developer who has good experience across Java development including Java Springboot and Angular.

  • Demonstrated technology capability and a passion for learning and discovering new technologies.

  • Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders for reporting and business engagement.

  • Able to pivot and prioritise work and projects based on demand while delivering to a schedule.

  • Ability to work under pressure to deliver to near-term deadlines.

  • Ability to work in a matrix organisation, taking direction from both line and project management.

  • Self-starter, able to get up to speed quickly and work independently while also being a team player to achieve the teams collective goals and project deadlines

Highly Desirable

  • Previous experience working with container technologies such as Docker and associated orchestration engines like Kubernetes would be desirable

  • Experience working with API gateways is desirable.

  • Previous experience working with Big Data technologies such as Spark (Scala), Kafka and other applications would be desirable.

  • Good working knowledge with relational and non-relational database backends such as MySQL, Cassandra/HBase, Coucbase etc.

  • Good knowledge of working with DevOps tools such as – Bamboo, Jira, BitBucket/GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity etc.
