Where the team fits in

PropTrack is Australia’s leading source of property insights, digital valuation solutions, and predictive analytics. This role sits within our Data Science & Analytics team, which is responsible for the development, deployment, and operations of internal and customer-facing statistical, machine learning, and AI models.  The team collaborates closely with a wide range of groups across the business, including Core Property Data, Mortgage Solutions, Consumer AI, Consumer Product & Experience, Commercial and Mortgage Choice. 

What the role is all about

  • Design, code, test, and deploy machine learning pipelines using Python, SQL, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), AWS, and GCP. 
  • Build innovative AI products using Generative AI, LLMs, and traditional machine learning techniques. 
  • Prototype and spike out Proofs of Concept (POCs) to explore new ideas and evaluate their feasibility in collaboration with senior engineers. 
  • Support data processes - assist with ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools so that everyone gets a good sense of the state our data. 
  • Analyse and produce data coverage and quality statistics across internal and external data sets to provide a high level of awareness across multiple teams. 
  • Following agile software development practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery and pair programming. 
  • Sharing responsibility for all operational aspects of the software that we build, in support of our “you build it; you run it” philosophy where dev-ops is a part of everyday life. 
  • Learning –we are constantly learning together, mentoring each other and striving to do things better 

Who we’re looking for

Our ideal candidate will have a mix of skills in the areas below. Don’t hesitate to apply even if you don’t tick every item: 

  • Programming skills in languages such as SQL, Python, R, C#, or similar. While we’re happy for you to learn specific languages on the job, you must have the ability to code. 
  • A passion for: Machine Learning, Deep Learning / Generative AI, Time Series Analysis & Forecasting, Software Development 
  • In-depth knowledge of the machine learning model lifecycle. 
  • Experience with key ML and hosting libraries, such as XGBoost, LightGBM, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras, HF models, Transformers, FastAPI, or Flask. 
  • Data handling skills, including cleaning, analysing, and interpreting large data sets, and an intuitive sense for identifying when the data is incorrect or inconsistent. 
  • Basic understanding of cloud service providers, like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including their core services, tools, and general applications in a business context. 
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders. 
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar discipline.
