The opportunity for U

We’re now looking for a Software Engineer to join our Australia Production Support team. Reporting into the Scrum Master, you’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including the Production Support Manager, Technical Analysts, Business Analysts, and Service Desk Analysts—alongside our product development and implementation teams across Australia and the UK. Your primary goal will be to deliver high-quality technical support to our clients with confidence. You’ll manage issue triage and resolution, advise clients on technical questions, and respond confidently to enquiries.

Your typical day may include:

  • Delivering production support responsibilities that help us provide timely, high-quality support to GBST clients and resolve issues quickly

  • Leading client support for version upgrades and guiding them confidently through the UAT cycle

  • Performing thorough defect analysis and creating clear, detailed development tickets—including investigation notes and recommended solutions—to help the development team fix issues efficiently

  • Providing out-of-hours client support when required

You’ll bring:

Ideally, you’ll be degree qualified with a technical qualification. You’ll have a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support. You’ll also have an understanding of cloud infrastructure and how it enables secure, scalable applications (with a strong preference for AWS). You’ll bring in-depth knowledge of common AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda, and AWS MQ. Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a strong advantage.

Your other key technical skills may include:

  • Knowledge of application servers such as Jboss/WebSphere

  • Technical experience designing systems using OOAD, SOA, Java, J2EE, Spring, React.js, Node JS, Hibernate, SOAP/REST web services using XML/JSON, Spring Security, Spring Boot, and AMQP/RabbitMQ

  • Experience writing SQL queries for reports and creating data correction scripts, including writing stored procedures using SQL Server

  • Basic knowledge of DevOps automation using CI/CD pipelines and Helm charts, including Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using Terraform

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch. • Experience working in a production support environment supporting clients

  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting applications, including identifying potential issues by reviewing application logs

  • Knowledge of FIX protocol and trading platforms.
