We have teams in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, India, and are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our team, experienced with improving security , trust & safety , and combating abuse , this role presents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact!
You'll be part of the Australian Trust Engineering (Anti-Abuse) Team and report to a Senior Engineering Manager. This team is responsible for building and operating services and platforms that improve the entire company's security and trust & safety posture.
What you'll do
  • Investigate and analyse behaviours, anomalies and abuse patterns
  • Write automation and rules for detecting and responding to abuse on our platform
  • Build and ship features and capabilities daily in highly scalable, cross-geo distributed environment
  • Be part of an amazing open and collaborative work environment with other experienced engineers, architects, technical program managers
  • Review and write code with best practices of readability, testing patterns, documentation, reliability, security, and performance considerations in mind
  • Contribute to address incidents and guide product and platform engineering teams on best practices that your team helps to define
  • Mentor and level up the skills of your teammates by sharing your expertise in formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions
  • Ensure full visibility, error reporting, and monitoring of high performing backend services
  • Participate in Agile software development including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, team retrospectives and show and tell demo sessions

Your background
  • 3+ years experience building and developing backend applications and/or platform capabilities, applying platform as a product mindset
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a preference for Computer Science degree
  • Proficiency in any modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Scala, etc.)
  • Fluency in any one database technology (e.g. RDBMS like Oracle or Postgres and/or NoSQL like DynamoDB or Cassandra)
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience of public cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, Azure) - AWS preferred
  • Experience crafting and implementing highly scalable and performant RESTful micro-services, with a focus on operational excellence
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns and an engineering discipline to produce software with quality
  • Real passion for collaboration and strong interpersonal and communication skills

You have expertise in one ore more of
  • Familiarity with security systems and trust & safety practices, processes
  • Experience working with compliance, privacy, trust & safety, security, infrastructure
  • Cloud platform/security experience
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and best practices
