Honeywell Software Centre develops state-of-the-art networked building automation and digital video surveillance solutions on Microsoft platforms. Recognised for innovative, high-quality software, we leverage the latest development tools and methodologies while maintaining a strong commitment to quality systems.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software engineers developing Honeywell’s building products, which are exported worldwide through Honeywell’s global businesses. You will drive engineering strategy, deliver high-quality solutions, and support customer growth through strong technical leadership and execution.

This role offers the opportunity to make a global impact by helping Honeywell maintain its position as a technology leader, delivering innovative solutions that improve quality of life worldwide. You will also play a key role in building and developing a high-performing, diverse team through talent acquisition, succession planning, employee engagement, retention, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and maintain high-performing software engineering teams.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring delivery of high-quality products and solutions while promoting best practices and accountability.
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies to support business growth and meet customer requirements.
  • Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap across multiple teams, aligning with Honeywell’s overall strategy and product vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and execution.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, including guidance on complex architectural design, code quality, and team development.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and delivery outcomes.
  • Act as the escalation point for production and customer issues, leading timely resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and other teams to deliver the best outcomes while balancing business, technical, and operational constraints.

Key Experience & Capabilities:

Essential Requirements

  • 10-17 years of overall Software Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Software Engineering Manager role.
  • Proven experience managing teams of 10-15 engineers.
  • Strong background in software product development, with a career progression from Software Developer/Software Engineer into Engineering Leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading and delivering complex software products across large codebases.
  • Experience owning and delivering products end-to-end, from planning and sprint execution through to production release and ongoing support.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams, including Engineering, QA, Product, and Scrum teams.
  • Strong web application and software product development experience.
  • Strong technical credibility with the ability to actively engage in discussions relating to architecture, design, development practices, and technical strategy.
  • Strong expertise in software architecture and design across both Windows and web-based applications.
  • Strong background in .NET development.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, microservices, containerization, and modern software architecture.
  • Experience working within modern, product-focused software development organisation.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and people management capabilities, with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing engineering teams.

Highly Valued

  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), including Access Control, Fire, HVAC, and Video solutions.
  • Understanding of Projects & Services business models within the building’s domain.
  • Experience integrating third-party systems with BMS platforms.
  • Cloud computing experience, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably React.
