Overview

Are you passionate about how artificial intelligence can help educators teach, students learn and institutions run more effectively? Microsoft is looking for an AI Workforce Solution Specialist to help schools, school systems, TAFEs and universities across Australia use AI safely, responsibly and with real impact.

In this role you will help education leaders imagine what’s possible with AI-powered productivity — from reducing administrative workload for teachers and professional staff, to improving student support services, research productivity and campus operations. You will work with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Chat, Copilot Studio and AI agents, alongside collaboration and cloud desktop solutions such as Microsoft Teams and Windows 365, to turn education priorities into practical outcomes.

You will lead consultative conversations with senior education leaders, build clear business cases, and bring together colleagues and partners to help institutions move from early AI exploration to confident, organisation-wide adoption. This is a role for someone who enjoys creating clarity in a fast-moving space, builds lasting relationships, and wants their work to make a difference to learners and educators.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realise our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Lead consultative conversations with education leaders — including vice-chancellors, principals, chief information officers, chief operating officers, heads of teaching and learning, and education department executives — to show how AI can support their strategic priorities.

  • Act as a trusted advisor, aligning AI solutions to institutional goals such as educator wellbeing and workload, student success and retention, research excellence and operational efficiency.

  • Build compelling business cases that quantify time saved, improved outcomes and return on investment, and help customers secure funding and approval through their governance and procurement processes.

  • Guide institutions on responsible and safe AI use, including data privacy, student safety, accessibility, academic integrity and alignment with national and state frameworks for AI in education.

  • Facilitate envisioning workshops and hands-on sessions that help staff identify high-value use cases, from lesson planning and feedback to enrolment, student services and finance.

  • Help customers design and scale AI agents that streamline everyday processes for staff and students.

  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of opportunities, forecast accurately and move opportunities from interest to commitment with pace and clarity.

  • Drive adoption and value after purchase, partnering with customer success and technical colleagues to make sure solutions are used well and deliver measurable impact.

  • Work closely with account teams, technical specialists, partners and marketing to create demand through events, workshops and education community programmes.

  • Connect AI opportunities to related solutions across security, cloud, devices and business applications to give customers a joined-up experience.

  • Share insights and success stories with your team and the wider education community, and help colleagues grow their AI expertise.

  • Act with integrity, complete required training and raise risks early.

Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, education or a related field AND 4+ years of experience in technology-related sales, account management or consulting; OR equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in technology solution sales, consulting or account management, ideally including work with education, research or public sector organisations.

  • Experience building pipeline, forecasting and leading complex opportunities that involve many stakeholders.

  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools (such as Microsoft 365 Copilot), and an understanding of AI concepts, agents and how AI is applied in day-to-day work.

  • Understanding of the education sector — how institutions are funded, governed and make decisions, and the challenges facing educators, students and professional staff.

  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, data privacy and student safety considerations in education.

  • Strong communication, storytelling and facilitation skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and frontline educators alike.

  • A growth mindset: curious, collaborative and keen to keep learning in a rapidly evolving field.

This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
