Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Solution Designer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design and deliver scalable, high-performance data platform solutions. The ideal candidate will be capable of translating business requirements into robust architecture, while ensuring best practices in data engineering, migration, and cloud-native design.

The Solution Designer will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, end-to-end data platform architectures on Google Cloud Platform. The role involves designing robust batch and streaming data pipelines using services such as BigQuery, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer, while ensuring best practices in data modelling, performance optimisation, and reliability. They will lead data migration and replatforming initiatives, define transformation logic using SQL, Python, and dbt, and ensure strong DevOps alignment through CI/CD and deployment frameworks. Additionally, the Solution Designer will conduct impact assessments, manage cutover and rollback strategies, participate in change management processes (CAB/RFC), and ensure security, governance, and observability are embedded across the platform.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing and implementing data platform solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Hands-on expertise with BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data analysis, with the ability to optimize queries and handle large datasets
  • Solid programming skills in Python and SQL for data transformation, scripting, and automation
  • Experience using dbt (data build tool) for modular and scalable data transformations
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, including:
    • Schema design
    • Data modelling
    • Partitioning and clustering
    • Query optimisation
  • Experience designing batch and streaming data pipelines with built-in resilience, idempotency, and observability
  • Hands-on experience with GCP DevOps tools, including:
    • Cloud Build
    • Artifact Registry
    • Cloud Logging
  • Proven experience in data migration and ETL/ELT replatforming to GCP-native services
  • Strong understanding of cutover planning, rollback strategies, and migration risk management
  • Experience working within CAB (Change Advisory Board) and RFC-based change management processes
  • Ability to work closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
