Don't just teach the syllabus - build the blueprint for how an entire state learns.

As Contour Education expands into New South Wales, we are hiring dedicated State Subject Curriculum Leads for separate, individual roles across Year 7-10 Mathematics, Mathematics Advanced and Extension (Year 11-12), Biology (Year 11-12), Chemistry (Year 11-12), and Physics (Year 11-12). In this role, you will own the source of truth for your discipline - mastering NESA syllabuses, school assessment patterns, and exam structures to ensure all Contour resources are built flawlessly.

This is a high-impact position acting as the strategic director and quality gate for your chosen subject in NSW. Rather than writing every question yourself, you will direct content production and define curriculum benchmarks, building a compounding body of knowledge that defines how thousands of students learn from the ground up.

This flexible, part-time role (8-10 hours per week) gives you complete strategic ownership over your subject area. You will take a blank page and turn NESA guidelines into a premium, state-specific program, ensuring Contour's educational offering is market-leading and built to scale.

Who We Are

At Contour, we're reshaping education, one student at a time.

Born from the frustration of students who knew the system could be better, we set out to build what we once wished existed: tutoring that actually works. Not generic classes. Not recycled notes. Not overpriced, overcrowded rooms with an out-of-touch teacher who couldn't relate. But a complete ecosystem of tutoring, resources, and support, meticulously designed to help every student reach their full potential.

Since 2020, over 10,000+ students have trusted Contour to guide their academic journey, and we've grown to over 300+ team members. We've produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the World-Record UCAT scorer, and placed more students into medical school than any school in Australia.

Our growth is a testament to the simple philosophy: Put the student first, always. Everything we design, from our world-class tutor-training programs to our purpose-built campuses, exists to help students master content faster, perform with confidence, and even rekindle the joy of learning.

Contour is a group of three brands united by one goal: to give every student the best chance to achieve their full potential:

  • Contour Education: Reshaping how students master their high school subjects with small-group tutoring, structured resources, and 1-on-1 support across Maths, Science, and English.
  • Contour Medprep: Reshaping medical preparation with a proven, step-by-step pathway through the UCAT, interviews, and admissions, led by a team of 100+ medical students.
  • Contour TestPrep: Reshaping test preparation, starting with the selective entry exam, through rigorous tutoring, mock exams, and data-driven feedback to give students a decisive advantage.

This is Contour. Built by students, for students.

What You Will Do

As our State Subject Curriculum Lead, you will own the educational source of truth for your specific subject area across NSW and strategically direct everything built from it.

  • Map - Build and maintain the curriculum source of truth for your subject, mapping out NESA syllabuses, recurring exam questions, and common student pitfalls.
  • Pace - Translate curriculum insights into live topic sequencing, question-type maps, and school-specific workshops kept 1-2 weeks ahead of local classrooms.
  • Support - Design the targeted materials and support systems students need to conquer internal assessments, optimise their school ranks, and ace the exams.
  • Direct - Plan educational resources upstream from the source of truth, steering Resource Developers to oversee the production of roughly 100 workbooks annually.
  • Govern - Act as the final quality gate to sign off on all subject materials with absolute polish, while continuously pushing curriculum innovation.

What You Will Bring
  • 95+ ATAR and a Band 6 or E4 result in the respective NSW HSC subject.
  • State ranks are ideal, but not compulsory.
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience with a strong track record of student outcomes.
  • Deep curriculum expertise and strong opinions on how the subject is sequenced, taught, and examined under NESA.
  • Excellent documentation skills with a focus on building durable, written educational frameworks.
  • Ability to brief, steer, and manage Resource Developers effectively without creating operational bottlenecks.
  • Uncompromising attention to detail with an obsession for error-free work and polished formatting.
  • High operational bandwidth to hit tight production deadlines and patch issues proactively.
  • Comfort using modern software and AI tooling to accelerate documentation and drafting workflows (preferred).
  • Alignment with Contour's student-first mission and a genuine passion for reshaping education.

Why You Will Love It
  • Elite Brand Reputation - Join an organisation ranked #8 on the AFR Fast 100 in 2025, marking our fourth consecutive year on the prestigious AFR lists.
  • Founding Role in NSW - Lead the charge in our newest state with our very first HSC cohort, giving you the rare opportunity to create an entire curriculum from the ground up rather than just inherit one.
  • Ownership & Autonomy - Enjoy freedom and trust to run the state's curriculum your way, working directly with the national Head of Subject with absolutely zero corporate bureaucracy or sluggish committees.
  • Flexible Remote Setup - Benefit from adaptable remote work structure that firmly values your final output over the hours you clock.
  • Premium Perks & Benefits - Access extensive benefits including an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), dedicated birthday/loyalty leave, and tailored lifestyle allowances, plus fully covered subscriptions to Netflix, Spotify, Apple Music, Uber One, and Amazon Prime.

How to Apply

If you care about reshaping education and empowering the next generation of students, we'd love to hear from you.

Application Process
  1. Submit your written application (CV and study scores)
  2. Complete a technical assessment using resources we provide
  3. Attend an interview, which includes Q&A and a live technical exercise
