Job Description

  • Salary: HEW Level 7 $108,659 – $117,202 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading
  • Shape and implement strategies that strengthen data-informed decisions

Develop and implement data, analytics and AI strategies through strong governance, planning and stakeholder engagement.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Project Coordinator to work within the Data Office, supporting the development and implementation of strategies that advance the University’s ability to effectively leverage its data and information assets.

Working closely with the Chief Data Officer, you will play a key role in shaping the design and delivery of Western's Data and Analytics Strategy, Roadmap and Operating Model to deliver value to key stakeholders and to leverage data as a strategic asset, while ensuring it is managed and used responsibly. You will translate strategic and operational objectives into expertly crafted documentation, including practical strategies, delivery plans, resource and capacity plans and operating models that strengthen organisational capability and deliver measurable results.

You will develop exceptional high-quality documentation, including strategies, plans, schedules, governance briefings, status reports, benefits realisation frameworks, and executive presentations. You will articulate a compelling narrative in these documents which provide clarity and evidence to enable strong oversight and which engender confidence and trust.

You will analyse complex information, identify emerging issues and provide practical recommendations that support organisational adoption, informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role will be demonstrated through the effective development, implementation and coordination of strategic data, analytics and AI priorities. This includes:

  • Strategic roadmaps, plans and initiatives are translated into coordinated implementation activities and delivered within agreed timeframes.
  • Leaders receive clear, accurate and timely governance documentation, analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Milestones, risks, dependencies, deliverables and benefits are actively monitored across concurrent initiatives.
  • Stakeholders are engaged and aligned through effective workshops, consultations and governance forums.
  • Strategic and project activities comply with information governance, privacy, records management and risk obligations.

About You
The successful candidate will bring experience developing and implementing strategies and coordinating complex initiatives in a large, multifaceted organisation. You will bring:

  • A relevant degree in business, project management, information management, data analytics, organisational development or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting strategy development and implementation, complex projects, programs or strategic initiatives.
  • Strong planning and organisational capability, with the ability to coordinate concurrent activities, stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement, relationship management and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Sound knowledge of project management principles, governance frameworks and continuous improvement methods, supported by advanced Microsoft 365 skills.
