The opportunity 

We’re partnering with our SME business to appoint a Strategy & Performance Lead, reporting to the Head of Strategy & Performance. This is a high-visibility role, acting as a critical extension of the function and supporting the development and delivery of the SME strategy. 

Blending strategy, performance oversight and insight, you’ll help shape how the business responds to evolving market dynamics and drives sustainable, profitable growth.

Your new role 

  • Support the development and ongoing refinement of SME strategy, including customer value propositions and long-term roadmap  

  • Track and oversee strategic initiatives, ensuring clear priorities, ownership and delivery discipline  

  • Analyse portfolio performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and translating insights into action  

  • Support quarterly prioritisation and governance forums, maintaining a clear pipeline of initiatives  

  • Partner with Customer Insights to embed a voice of customer approach into decision making  

  • Assess growth opportunities across segments, products and distribution channels  

  • Prepare executive-level materials, including performance reporting, strategy updates and decision papers 

 

About you 

  • Experience in strategy, consulting or performance roles, ideally within insurance or financial services  

  • Strong commercial acumen, with understanding of portfolio performance drivers (commercial lines experience highly regarded)  

  • Ability to work with ambiguity, break down complex problems and determine a clear course of action  

  • Confident in interpreting data and insights (from finance, underwriting, customer or market sources) to form practical recommendations  

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, challenge and tell a clear story  

  • Comfortable engaging across stakeholders to test ideas, gather insights and shape solutions  

  • Structured approach to governance, prioritisation and performance tracking  

  • Proactive, curious and able to operate with a high level of autonomy
