Provides Level 3 DNS operations and support, troubleshooting BIND-based authoritative and recursive DNS environments. Manages DNS protocol behavior, caching, TTLs, query resolution, Linux/Unix systems, TCP/IP, UDP, latency, and routing. May support Anycast DNS, automation with Shell, Python, or Ansible, monitoring platforms, and ITIL incident, problem, and change management processes.
Must Have Skills:
5+ years of experience in DNS
operations/support, with at least 2–3 years at L3 level
Strong hands‑on
experience with BIND (open‑source DNS)
Deep understanding of:
· DNS protocol internals
· Authoritative vs Recursive DNS
· TTL, caching behavior, and query resolution flow
Strong Linux/Unix system administration experience
Strong networking fundamentals:
· TCP/IP, UDP
· Latency and routing behavior
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with Anycast DNS
deployments
Exposure to other DNS software: Unbound,
PowerDNS, Knot DNS
Automation and scripting (Shell, Python,
Ansible)
Monitoring tools:
