Role Title: Systems Engineer – Maritime Sustainment

Are you an engineer looking to build your systems engineering career in a complex maritime sustainment environment?

We are seeking a Defence Systems Engineer to support engineering design, requirements development, technical assurance, system reviews, verification and validation activities; as well as engineering change support within a Defence sustainment setting.
This role will contribute to work that supports system baselines, engineering assurance, seaworthiness and operational availability for specialist systems under management. 

About the Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will provide practical engineering support across a range of maritime sustainment and engineering activities.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support requirements development, design reviews, technical investigations, verification and validation planning, engineering documentation and technical risk management. The role will also contribute to engineering assurance activities and support the review of technical deliverables associated with contracted services and products.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

 - Support the delivery of systems engineering activities within a maritime sustainment environment.
 - Provide engineering advice and technical support under the direction of senior engineering personnel.
 - Assist with requirements engineering activities, including functional performance specifications, system specifications and verification and validation requirements.
 - Support detailed design development activities, including review of engineering documentation and technical artefacts.
 - Contribute to Integrated Logistics Support artefact development and sustainment documentation.
 - Support updates to technical data and engineering management toolsets, including NLIS-related information where required.
 - Assist with system safety engineering and certification requirements determination.
 - Support technical risk identification, assessment, tracking and reporting.
 - Conduct technical investigations, reviews and analysis to support engineering decisions.
 - Prepare technical reports, briefs, advice and recommendations for Defence and project stakeholders.
 - Support system reviews, including System Requirements Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews and Detailed Design Reviews.
 - Assist with validation and verification activities, including DT&E, AT&E and OT&E support.
 - Support engineering remediation activities for contracted services and products.
 - Provide technical input to Statements of Work for procurement activities.
 - Assist with tender evaluations and reviews of contract deliverables.
 - Maintain engineering records and documentation in accordance with approved processes.
 - Support engineering assurance, configuration control and baseline management activities.

Skills and Experience
 - Tertiary qualifications in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, marine engineering, mechatronics, naval architecture, communications engineering or a related technical discipline.
 - Experience supporting engineering activities in a Defence, maritime, sustainment, complex asset or technical project environment.
 - Exposure to systems engineering, requirements development, technical assurance, design review or verification and validation activities.
 - Ability to review technical information and contribute to engineering assessments, investigations and reports.
- Experience in engineering design, systems thinking and technical problem-solving principles.
