About the role

Exceptional technology requires exceptional creators. We are looking for a specialized Talent Acquisition Partner who will be the primary engine behind the growth of our core engineering and R&D teams, ensuring we maintain the highest levels of talent density as we scale globally.

This isn’t a generalist recruiting role. You will be tasked with identifying and headhunting the "1% of the 1%"—the engineers who possess a rare combination of deep theoretical knowledge in Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and the hands-on "maker" mentality required to build world-leading robotics. Your success will directly impact our ability to develop and scale the next generation of Embedded Software, Electronics, and Mechatronics solutions for subsea, land, air, and space applications.

What you’ll do

Full-Cycle Technical Sourcing: Own the end-to-end recruitment process for our Sydney-based engineering verticals, including Embedded Software (C/C++), Electronics Design (high-speed PCB), and Mechatronics.

Deep Tech Headhunting: Proactively identify and engage passive talent from elite R&D environments, defense labs, and high-growth robotics firms globally.

Technical Calibration: Partner closely with Sydney-based Technical Leads (e.g., Head of Software Platforms and Head of Navigation Solutions) to refine engineering personas and ensure technical alignment.

Domain-Specific Assessment: Vet candidates for their understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS), sensor fusion, Kalman filtering, and hardware-software integration.

Market Mapping: Leverage recruitment insights to map global talent hubs for PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing), identifying key pools of talent that can be relocated to our Sydney HQ.

Security & Compliance: Manage recruitment processes with an understanding of the security clearance requirements (Baseline to NV1/NV2) necessary for our defense-facing engineering teams.

Candidate Experience: Deliver a high-touch, sophisticated recruitment experience for senior-level engineers who value technical depth and mission-driven work.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Engineering Recruitment Expertise: A proven track record of hiring high-performing engineers in Embedded Software (C/C++), Electronics (Hardware/FPGA), or Mechatronics/Robotics.

Deep Tech Literacy: Direct experience recruiting for complex, hardware-plus-software environments (e.g., Aerospace, Autonomous Vehicles, Underwater Robotics, or Electronic Warfare).

Sourcing Mastery: Expert at identifying "passive" engineering talent on platforms like GitHub, StackOverflow, and specialized technical forums.

Technical Credibility: Ability to speak the language of engineers and credibly represent Advanced Navigation’s "Deep Tech" mission to attract top-tier innovators.

Stakeholder Management: Confidence in advising senior Technical Leaders on market trends, salary benchmarking for niche engineering skills, and talent availability.

Tools: Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, modern ATS platforms (ideally Rippling), and technical assessment tools.

Efficiency: High attention to detail and a "bias for action" in a fast-paced environment where speed-to-market for talent is a competitive advantage.

Advocacy: A passion for building diverse, high-performing teams and a commitment to delivering a fair, rigorous selection process.
