About the role

We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our People team in Sydney.

You’ll own end-to-end hiring across a diverse portfolio of roles and divisions, with an initial focus on our evolving Operations and Customer Success teams, and help Stake bring exceptional people into the business. You’ll work closely with hiring managers to get clear on what great looks like, build smart sourcing strategies and run focused hiring processes that lead to better decisions. You’ll have the freedom to shape your approach and the accountability to deliver the outcome.

You’ll also help us keep raising the bar for how we hire. That means using data, technology, AI and automation thoughtfully to make recruitment faster and more effective, while creating an experience that gives candidates a genuine sense of Stake. We work hybrid spending 3 days in our beautiful, dog-friendly Sydney office.

What success looks like
  • Delivered high-quality hires who met the agreed role outcomes, raised the capability of their teams and continued to perform at a high bar
  • Established a clear plan for every search, including the target profile, market insights, sourcing strategy, role mission and scorecards, interview process and expected timeline
  • Ran efficient, high-touch hiring processes by setting clear expectations, maintaining regular candidate contact, prompt interview feedback and ensuring every candidate received a timely outcome
  • Built proactive local and global pipelines for critical roles by mapping target companies, engaging passive talent and nurturing relationships before vacancies arose
  • Improved hiring decisions through role-specific scorecards, structured interviews, interviewer briefings and evidence-based debriefs that reduced reliance on instinct or “culture fit”
  • Became a trusted talent adviser who used market evidence to challenge unrealistic briefs, reshape roles, adjust search strategies and influence hiring decisions
  • Consistently brought Stake’s opportunity to life throughout the process, tailoring the story to each candidate and clearly communicating the role’s impact, growth opportunity, culture and challenges
  • Used hiring data to drive practical improvements, including identifying candidate drop-off points, the sources producing quality hires, causes of delays and the assessments most predictive of success
  • Identified, tested and embedded new uses of AI and automation to improve talent mapping, sourcing insights, interview preparation and reporting—leading to better decisions and candidate experiences
  • Elevated Stake’s talent function stronger by creating engaged talent communities, improving hiring-manager capability and embedding simpler, scalable ways of working across divisions
You’ll thrive here if…
  • You’ve delivered full-cycle recruitment in an in-house, agency or embedded environment and know how to take genuine ownership of a hire from first brief to signed offer
  • You’re a strong sourcer who enjoys finding exceptional people, building engaged talent communities, learning new talent markets and turning market signals into smarter hiring strategies
  • You build credibility with hiring managers quickly by understanding the business and their team needs. You ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly and can influence a change in direction when the evidence calls for it
  • You care about the craft of assessment and know how to create structured interviews and scorecards that lead to fairer, higher-quality decisions
  • You’re comfortable working with ATS platforms, sourcing tools and recruitment data, and you use them to drive decisions rather than simply track activity
  • You actively incorporate AI and automation into how you recruit, continuously identifying, testing and embedding new ways to improve efficiency, candidate experience and hiring decisions without compromising human judgement, privacy, security or fairness
Bonus if you’ve ever
  • Recruited in a growing technology, fintech or financial services business
  • Built talent pools for recurring or hard-to-fill capability areas
  • Used AI or automation to meaningfully improve a recruiting workflow
  • Helped improve employer brand, candidate communications or sourcing content
  • Worked with Australian employment requirements, privacy considerations and background-check processes
