Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
This is primarily a remote position. With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location on the east coast of Australia. Our office is in Sydney, but we offer flexibility to work remotely. Whatever your preference - working from home, an office, or in between - you can choose the place that's best for your work and your lifestyle.

This role focuses on Australian and international tax advisory and projects, with opportunities to get involved in compliance tasks such as quarterly tax provisions and foreign tax returns. If you have experience in tax research and advisory, or a background in tax compliance and you're looking for a change, this role is a great fit.

  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax effect accounting calculations under both IFRS and US GAAP for international countries
  • Maintain and update our tax risk management and governance processes

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors on technical matters and projects.

  • On the first day, we'll expect you to have:
    • 2 - 3 years experience in corporate tax (commerce and/or chartered practice)
    • Accounting qualifications or working towards (CA, CPA or Masters of Tax)
    • Strong research skills, including the interpretation of tax office rulings and provisions in income tax legislation
    • Proven work experience in tax effect accounting and tax compliance
    • Experience solving complex tax issues and preparing tax memos
    • Strong Excel skills (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
    • An eagerness to learn new things

It's a bonus, but not required, if you have:

    • US GAAP tax effect accounting experience
    • Experience with Oracle, OneSource Tax Provision or Alteryx
