The Role
 

The CM Group's tax team located in Sydney Australia manages the Group’s global tax compliance and tax reporting obligations in relation to the multiple jurisdictions in which we currently operate. As part of the tax team, this role will be working closely with the Global Head of Tax, other members of the tax team and the broader finance team to manage the Group's Global sales tax and indirect tax obligations, product classifications and system documentation, with a key focus on UK and European direct tax compliance. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Preparation of quarterly global tax effect accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting (all jurisdictions)

  • Principle point of contact for tax matters in relation to group and local statutory audits

  • Tax advisory/tax technical lead covering jurisdictions outlined below, including M&A transcations

  • Group cash tax forecasting

  • Global WHT reporting and process management

  • Manage tax authority audits

  • Support global transfer pricing and transparency compliance, including supporting global debt management, thin cap management and preparation of TP Docs

  • Ensure appropriate controls and processes exist to facilitate the successful completion and timely lodgement of the Group’s global tax compliance obligations

  • Proactive focus on process improvement, automation, technology adoption to increase efficiency and accuracy of tax workstreams

  • Support, if necessary, on VAT/GST/Sales Tax filings and projects and processes on an ad hoc basis

  • You will be responsible for the following countries: UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Uruguay & Costa Rica

About You: 

  • Oversight of income tax compliance obligations as and where required (outsourced)

Ideal Qualifications:  

  • 8+ years of tax experience with Big 4 and/or in-house tax role and at least 2 years experience as a manager

  • Experience in Australian taxes is essential for this position, including exposure to GST, R&D, CGT, FBT, Division 7A, TOFA, CFC, Transfer Pricing, Corporate Governance, Tax Losses, WHT

  • Solid tax effect accounting and transfer pricing experience.

  • AU, NZ, Europe, Aspac tax experience is highly desirable.   

  • CA/CPA Qualifications

  • Experience of Netsuite preferred

  • Exposure to tax authorities in multiple jurisdictions

  • Comfortable with technology adoption, including using different technology services and systems to manage indirect and sales tax compliance obligations, extensive excel skills

  • Strong communication, commercial judgement, and problem-solving skills

  • Highly organised with the ability to work under reasonable pressure and within set deadlines

  • Self motivated with a desire to learn and ability to roll up your sleeves and get involved

  • Excellent technical and analytical skills
