Job Description

At TAL, our Claims Team Managers play a crucial role in guiding teams to deliver compassionate, fair and customer-focused claims experiences. By leading high-performing teams and shaping consistent, compliant claims practices, this role helps ensure customers are supported with clarity and care during some of life’s most challenging moments. Through strong leadership, continuous improvement and a focus on capability uplift, you’ll contribute directly to TAL’s purpose of protecting Australians by building trust, strengthening outcomes and ensuring every claim is handled with integrity and empathy.

In this role, you will:

  • Own claims portfolio performance, delivering timely, fair and customer-focused outcomes while managing costs and return-to-health results
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, capability uplift and performance management
  • Resolve complex claims and escalations to achieve balanced, high-quality outcomes for customers and the business
  • Ensure strong risk management by embedding compliance with policies, regulations and claims frameworks
  • Optimise operational delivery through effective resource planning, workflow management and performance monitoring
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing best practice claims strategies and leading change within the team

Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams or strong claims experience, with the ability to step into leadership
  • Solid understanding of insurance claims processes, ideally within life insurance
  • Proven ability to manage operations, prioritise work and drive team performance
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, including industry standards
  • Commitment to continuous learning and applying technical knowledge in a practical, customer-focused way
