Job Description

Technical Partners provides a range of support services, delivered through business partnering and the provision of specialist technical support with our teams. We work closely with academic colleagues and senior managers to spotlight partnering with Schools, Research Groups, and other stakeholders within Griffith Health and to meet strategic and operational technical support priorities across Griffith Health.

Are you an Enrolled Nurse or clinically trained health professional looking to use your skills in a rewarding education setting — without shift work or weekend hours?

Griffith University is seeking a passionate and practical Technical Officer to join the Simulation and Practical Experience team within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. This is a hands-on, behind‑the‑scenes role supporting high‑quality simulation and practical learning environments for undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery students.

This position is ideal for Enrolled Nurses and other health professionals who enjoy working with clinical equipment, supporting learning, and contributing to the development of future nurses and midwives — all while enjoying weekday hours (shifts between 7am and 6pm) and a positive work‑life balance.

Working as part of a collaborative, high‑performing technical team, you will provide essential technical and laboratory support to enable high‑quality clinical teaching laboratories and simulation sessions. Under the supervision of the Team Leader and guidance of the Senior Technical Officer (School of Nursing and Midwifery), you will support practical teaching activities and clinical simulations through setup, pack down and procurement, ensuring teaching laboratories are well-prepared, safe and effectively equipped for student learning.

This is a technical support role rather than a teaching or clinical care position, making it ideal for those who enjoy the practical, organisational and equipment-focused aspects of healthcare.

Here’s how you’ll make it matter:

  • Preparing, setting up, maintaining and packing down teaching laboratories and simulation sessions to create realistic, safe and well organised learning environments
  • Supporting the delivery of nursing and midwifery practical classes, including high‑ and low‑fidelity simulation environments
  • Undertaking stock control, equipment checks, maintenance and procurement of consumables and equipment to ensure resources are available and functioning when needed.
  • Supporting WHS compliance and contribute to a safe, inclusive working environment.
  • Collaborating with academic and professional staff to deliver engaging, high-quality simulation experiences for students.

About you
What matters most is your drive to create a brighter future that benefits all. Through our principles of excellence, ethics and engagement, you’ll thrive on seeing the direct and lasting impact you’ll have on every community and every future.

You will also have:

  • A relevant Health qualification such as Enrolled Nurse, Diploma  Associate degree with subsequent experience in providing technical support to a health-related learning environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Strong Work Health and Safety awareness within specialised teaching or healthcare environments.
  • Well‑developed organisational and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365, including Teams and SharePoint.
  • Ability to apply clinical and/or technical knowledge to support and maintain realistic Nursing and Midwifery simulation environments.
  • Ability to apply clinical and/or technical knowledge in hands on environment, including preparing rooms, moving equipment and supporting realistic simulation setups.
  • Experience supporting practical and simulation-based learning in Nursing, Midwifery or other Health disciplines (highly regarded but not essential).
